Thanks to all who have given their insight and technical support. I have finished the install of my 1969 firebird clip and everything fits well. The only minor issue is having to chop the rad support 4 inches to accommodate the new front crossmember height. Everything else fits well. Once again, Thanks.

Subscribing.... I'm hoping to use a '37 Buick frame under my '39 Pontiac.

EDIT: I ended up finding a '39 Pontiac frame, so all is good.

Is there any difference between a '69 Firebird, and a '72 Nova clip?

Sounds good, thanks. Not too wide for a '39 Poncho, I ***ume, too? I'm asking because the '47 Ford project I'm getting has a hacked up '72 Nova graft on it. I'd rather put it towards something that it fits right with.

Sorry folks, no progress as yet. The car had been banished to the yard for another project coming in. I am ready now to get back at her. Found leather seats that look as if they belong inside from a late model volvo and a friend gave me a rear end and suspension from an early 80s pontiac lemans wagon. now I have a 4link rear suspension grafted to the original 39 frame. I am still on track to have this baby on the road for under 7 grand. Total cost so far is around 2200 bucks.

  13. Well, ***uming you can even get it on the road with no tags and no VIN. I think I would have taken care of that before anything else.

In Alberta that's not even an issue.

You get the car inspected to make sure it's safe and within all legal parameters, then if there is no vin tag you get an ***igned vin tag from the government as a hobby/homebuilt car, then you go cruising!

Hey Havi; I think the nova front is probably wider. than the firebird. My buddy has a nova clip in his 39 chev that was narrowed right down the middle whereas I brought the frame rails in 1& 1/2 inches per side. I think mine looks more factory. Either one is good.

Back to the top. I got the Nova out and ready to start measuring up the Pontiac. The PO had already cut the crossmembers on the Nova, and welded in a thick plate, so I'm looking at modifications on that already. I just need some pics and measurements if available. Thanks in advance.

PS: I'm ***uming it's a Nova, no real way to tell since it was half installed in a '47 Ford.
