Buy some paper, go down and lie and purger yourself. Remember these people want to register your car. They are paper pushers. It is in their interest. $$$$$$$$$$$$. Tell them what they want to hear. Yes I bought this T in the state that the paper is from and I towed it on a trailer from there or had it shipped ,whatever. Do you know anybody that has gone to jail for lying to the D.M.V. unless they have stolen a car? Me neither! Now don't tell anybody what I just said. I will deny it till my dying day.

Start a spreadsheet with all the info you have - Where you bought items, description of item, date, price, tax paid. Copy all receipts. Talk to locals that have been through the process. Sometimes there are hidden secrets a local might know that can make it easier. An example, in PA it was easier if you went through a State Representatives office than through a notary.

Make it easy for them and it will be easy for you.

find a local hot rod club...join 'em if you have to. There's always somebody in the group that is BTDT - so, start networking. Go to car shows, impromptu get-togethers, find guys with T-buckets and ask them what they did. DMV is usually quite helpful if you start asking your questions BEFORE you finish the car. You should get an MSO from the manufacturer, ask DMV what else you need. Make sure you understand your state law on number of taillights, wipers, headlight height (above ground) and so on.

The best thing would be to talk to them and tell them your plans.I know every state is different but in California they have a provision for 500 "Custom Built' cars to be registered each year,***led as what they most closely resemble.I built a T two years ago from scratch, the DMV gave me a temporary cert then I took it to the Hiway Patrol who gave me a Vin#,had to get it smogged[they just needed some numbers] and that was it. Smog? Are you serious? What happened to the 1975 cut off?
