    fellas..

So my fleetlines fenders have been re radiused and wont fit the stock skirts anymore..

i want to run some type of skirts on the rear..

my question.. are there any types of skirts that can go OVER the whole opening outside of the fender out there?

i guess something like this.. but maybe a little more subtle or cleaner?

Skirts as you show look nice, but you may want to redo the front of them to follow the contour of the rear fender better ????

Here is a pic of a '49 Fleetline I did using Merc. type skirts also.
They are fibregl***, and I don' think it would be too hard to reshap or extend them.
    Good luck, nice lookin' car!!

Great question, one that I have been thinking about also.
Not sure what I'm going to do with mine just yet.

I thought the merc style skirts for chevys were flush mounts like stockers

No luck on my end finding bubble or cruiser skirts listed for 49-50 chevys.

I added original steel 51 Merc skirts and flush fitted them to my chevy. Very happy with results and can change my rear tire too.

The skirts in the pic look like skirts for early 40's types...I'm using '40 Ford on my '40 Studey and they look a lot like the Fleetline skirts you've pictured. I would start with a pair of Merc skirts and modify them...working with 'glas isn't that hard altho it is a tad messy...that way, you can build ('glas) into them your own mounting brackets.

Nite Prowlers has quite a few skirts in stock...and there used to be an outfit out of Texas (I think) that carried nothing but skirts, altho I can remember the name of it...

    BigJims is the name...thanx Thommyknocker...!!!

If I remember correctly, I bought my skirts from Nite Prowlers. Pretty good quality.
As I sold that car I don't have many other pics, but here is one more. The skirts fit nicely on the front and rear curve of the lower sheet metal on the Chevys....
    Cheers,
    Bob :D

Lookie what the brown truck dropped off :D

Merc style skirts from night prowlers.
They are a good 13" tall, so even after I removed 1 1/2" from the top of the arch they still cover the hole.
They are about 1/4" thick, overlaying the fender, with a return flange and a U shaped "gasket" to keep from scratching the paint.

I need to do a bit of work on the brackets and the inner rear splash piece, the p*** side needs to go up a little.
Besides that they fin purty nice.

I'm a bit torn between running these skirts as is, or modifying them to be flush w/ the quarter.

To make them flush, I'd have to devise new mounting brackets.
I'm thinking 2 pins straight up into the lip, and 2 of those latches for doors (WTF are the called, you gota lift the pin and slide the barrel over)

Does anyone have a better idea?

Don't know if it's a better idea, but it worked for me :

I built two sliding pins on my skirts...'glas in two small u-shaped brackets (leave about a 1/4" in diameter), at the bottom of the skirts, fore and aft, slip a pointed "pin" (in my case -L shaped 1/4" round rod) in before you do, drill two holes in the rolled edge of the wheel well for the "pins" to slide into. With the u-shaped brackets, you can slide the pins back and forth. Then 'glas in two wider u-shaped brackets (or two Z shaped brackets) at the top to slip the skirt up into the body on the inside. These hold the top of the skirt tight, and the "pins' hold the bottom of the skirt tight.

KOOL Rides have several styles to chose from plus they have sources in the USA that can make steel skirts for many applications.
