I restored this Riley 4Port dirt car in 1975, last I knew it was in California, has anyone seen it? Has Midnight Riley Special on the cowl.
I am not 100% sure but I think I saw that car running in Idaho a few years back. It was a racing at Meridian Speedway. Now it could have came from California, all the car were from the west. It was a special ol timer race. I will try and located some pictures...
I checked some old photos from the Justice Brothers and Western Racing ***oc. and nothing turned up. The car sure looks good. On the wheels I can see the spokes are red. The back of the wheel is red but what is on the outside edge of the wheel? Is it chrome? What kind of wheels are they? Bart
If you think it ran in the Midwest at one point you may what to check out Bob Lawrence's site. He has done a lot of research and is a wealth on knowledge. He helped me with info on the O'Day Offy. Make sure you have a few free hours before you click on the link! http://winfield.50megs.com/index.htm Bart
It was a no history car, one of the reasons I let it go. Back in the 1970's we tried to restore cars to the correct year you clained the car to be. In this case I picked 1933 since it had a B block with a "C" crank. The car came out of south New Jersey, had a flawless body, whoever built it was a true craftsman. Kids gave me home videos from 1987 and 1989 on DVD's of them playing in the car at Hershey as a Christmas gift, and they brought back a lot of great memories. If I can figure out how to get them on YouTube I'll post them.
Hope you find it - my dad had a 1930s sprint car that he and his dad put together with a 4Port Riley in it. Car's lost to the annals of time somewhere in the hills outside of Binghamton and he sold the motor to someone with a '32 Ford back in the late 1940s.
Beautiful dirt car 37 Kid! I will ask around this season at Perris Auto Speedway here in California. WRA shows up at least once during the season, hopefully someone might know. Hope you find it! Offy 220
Back in the sixties, Mickey Mouse's Junkyard, in Elmsford, N.Y. had one for sale for ninety bucks, trailer and all. Another kid from Pleasantville, a little older, got it and found the original owner etc. Guess he restored it, as he had a bunch of old Fords. Thought that was it for a minute. I would miss still having it too.
Thanks for bringing up an old thread, at a quick glance the all look alike, but that isn't my old car. I finished the car in 1975, that seams so long ago, but at times it was just yesterday. Bob
