Actually 1 1/2 of them, got a extra cab, or whats left of it! Still mostly complete down to the flathead thats supposed to be free though I haven't tried to turn it yet, guy I got it from said it run a year ago, though I doubt that very seriously from the looks of it! If its not stuck I think I'll keep it mostly original and add a dovetail bed to make a vintage hauler out of it. Been looking for one of these for years and got a decent deal on them so I'm a happy guy!
Its got 20" wheels on it how, which I would like to change to something smaller, got to start looking around for options on this.....

Nice score, might want to start looking for cheap motorhome to use the ch***is and drivetrain from- solves a lot of problems.

Sweet! That looks like a LOT of fun! I saw a COE a while back that the guy had made into a mid-engined truck. Couldn't haul much aside from a whole lotta ***! ;-)

+1 on the motorhome, especially if you're hauling a couple tons of hot rod on the back, you want modern big wheels and tires and good brakes. BTW, you say dovetail, around here we say beavertail. but I guess tail is tail.

It is far easier to just swap your cab onto a late model ch***is. I did that on my 49 Ford COE using a 74 GM 1-ton pickup ch***is. Mine is on a reg cab longbed ch***is, so it is not set up as a car hauler. Built a custom 10 ft flatbed on the back. Lot of pics on HAMB from build through shows, but this is from Bonneville 2009:

put an ad on craigslist, i put one out there sayig that i would come haul it away and well i am going to get it tonight, $free

  10. x3 on a motor home ch***is.. your going to need the forward controls.. but a word to the wise.. DON'T DON'T DON'T get a fibergl*** motor home... I have s****ed out a few motor homes.. but only one fibergl*** one... they take forever because a lot of them have a steel frame inside.. and the old decaying fibergl*** will cut the hell out of you inners and outers. and you cant take the fibergl*** to the s****per... get an old aluminum one. burn all the wood.. take the aluminum to the s****per and throw away the rest.. don't expect to get rich on the aluminum either.. we got $100 for 500+ lbs of aluminum from 2 trailers and a motor home.

Yeah its got 20's on it. I had a '49 F4 some yrs back that had 18" wheels with the same big 5 lug bolt pattern.
I've read a ton of threads regarding using a motorhome or various other ch***is but if the old flatty and HD 4 speed is still in usable condition without a ton of cash then I'm gonna stick with the original setup with the exception of a rearend change to get better gearing. These old things hauled plenty of weight in less than ideal conditions back in its hayday and I'm betting still can.
Still kicking lots of ideas around as to how to go about it and the choices are endless but the one thing for sure is the cool factor is a solid 10, I love the body lines on these things!

After waiting for what seemed like ages I finally scored one just like yours a few years ago only to let it go in one of those moments when you feel like you're overwelmed with projects. Mine was rust/damage free and wish I still had it. Since I've been unable to sell my 454 1 ton dually it would have been a perfect marriage. Oh well, s**t happens.
