It's winter. It's cold. It's not good!! Does anybody have an explanation why people own multiple 32's? Most of us know some one who has a garage full. What is the reason why somebody has the love affair?
They appreciate faster than just letting the money sit in the bank and gives you somethings to tinker with.
Bill, You know I have Two, the 5W and the Roadster project. I'd buy a 3W tomorrow if it turned up. The quote below best describes it I suppose, just subs***ute "Deuce" where it reads, "Hot Rod". But, you already knew that, didn't you. Happy New Year my friend. Johnnie. > < > "The experience of Hot Rods cannot be explained substantially to those unfamiliar. It cannot be shared with the unfeeling, it cannot be defined without prior knowledge. It's either a part of you or it isn't and nothing can change that. Such is the nature of the soul and such is the way of the Hot Rod." > < >
The thing that amazes me is how many survived. It was one year of production, yet it seems like half the guys here have one.
the conspiracy theorists claim Henry found a way to imbed cocaine into the metal...once you touch it... what...?
nothing better than real steel...savem all from the crusher. Owning one of them is like having money in the bank!
Hotrodders (and I mean real ones) can be separated into two distinct groups.... those that have '32 Fords......... and, those that want '32 Fords......... period.
I guess I'm not a real hotrodder than......don't get me wrong, I'd take one, but there's no way I'd spend the current going rate to own one....they're just not worth it to me.
Didn't you just prove tinnmans point,,you would like to have one,, Remember,,it's all in fun By the way,,a lot of us ol' greybeards have had the 33-34's in the past,,cut our teeth on Model A's and I for one have had a bunch of late 30's up to and including 1940 Fords,,but I have been doing the hot rod thing for many, many years.HRP
I thought this was some kind of BB program with hopefully 12 steps ;;;;No running boards 32 is just the magical number
Ive owned a pickup and a 4door, and got good deal on both. Had to sell them when times got tough. Wish I still had them along with every other cool and not so cool car and truck that got away.
Not really, the way I operate is this, if I really want one, then sooner or later I will have one.....unless they come way down in value, or I stumble accross one rediculously cheap....I will never own one, therefore I must not want one. I said I'd take one, but I already have the car I want....it took me 25 years to get it, and just because I don't "want" a 32 ford doesn't mean I'm not a "real" hotrodder. all in good fun of course....
IF ... I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't understand In my case, I like 32 Fords. I need a Roadster for the warm, pretty southern nights and I need a coupe for when the weather is not as good for a evening drive with my honey. .
call it a fantasy, fetish, or a sickness , a lot of us are in it together, just not quite quarantined, but hell its fun
I saw this quote on http://www.roadsters.com/deuce/ : "There are currently more 1932 Fords on the road than there were when the car was new. In fact, as of several years ago, there were currently more 1932 Fords registered just in the state of California than Ford ever built."
Wanting or owning a 32 Ford is a no brainer, The real question should be 'Why would anybody own a chevelle'? jmho .
I call it "Deuce Fever" there is no known cure..............the only antidote is to acquire or build another one every couple of years, at least thats what I tell my wife!! I have 8 right now, all drivers. I am always looking for a new "dose" or deuce to combat this dreadful disease.
This phenomenon occurs with all kinds of stuff, lots of guys who buy something and like it, keep their eyes open for other ones that might come up. You convince yourself you need a second one for parts, or to make a complete 2nd one out of the spare parts you already have. How many dog owners have you seen that have two of the same breed. Most people like to stick with what they know makes them feel good, but IMHO the most interesting car collections are those with a certain amount of diversity. The last duece days there were over 500 '32s there, some real, some made up from aftermarket parts. After a day of looking at them all it was duece overload.
If they are well done........ there is never overload. They are an icon in the Hot Rod world and always will be. Some people like them some don't ....but it doesn't change a thing one way or another, if you do or don't. Their place in Hot Rod history is defined and solid. I've wanted one since I was 12 years old, and now I own a life long dream and would buy another one in a second, if ever given the opportunity, so yeah I guess it's just a sickness.
Are you trying to tell us that of the 322,962 Ford p***enger cars and the 115,322 commercial trucks built in 1932 which totals at 438,284 that there are more than originally built registered in the state of California in recent years,,I call BS! HRP
One came my way while pursuing a 40 ford. The 40 was a sedan, the 32 a three window. I could only get one. The forty was a complete car, although not running. After a little trepidation I took the 32. If the 40 would have been a coupe the 32 would have been p***ed up. I now have a 40 coupe and enjoy it a lot. Once the 32 is running I am sure I will be liking it a lot also.
