GREAT THREAD!!! These early Vettes are fantastic in any configuration. I could look at them all day long.

Hey you guys are sharp. Not in 40+ years has any one got it right. Most answers are Riviera, second id Camaro. You can further show your knowledge by telling me where to get body seals for these lights. I have been looking for 10 years for some. No luck. I have 4 pairs of tail lights and want to install a pair in my Black 62 as seen in the avatar. When I built the Black car into a 60s street racer from a 100% survivor car, all the corvette people went nuts. If I can find the body seals and cut the lights into the back of the black car , they will stroke out. Here is another set of lights in motion, also installed by me in 61'.

  4. This is a great thread. I can appreciate a nice restored corvette(I guess). But after seeing all these cool pics, Im sure vetts were meant to be hot rods.

  6. As much of a detail guy that John Mazmanian was... I'm surprised he hacked, or he had a car that someone hacked those ugly ass openings in to.

I mean... it looks like Ray Charles did it.

    p.s. More road race Vettes!!!

I read he did it at a race and all he had was a hacksaw. I agree, the quality of his cars does not match that hack job.

  12. How about the dark blue/purple one, 58-62 ish, used to race at Great Lakes Dragaway in the 90's. Couple of black guys owned it and it was flying when I last saw it.

Here is one a friend "retrieved" a few years back. Story is it was raced at the 64 Nationals under the name "Ram It" had a wedge motor and a push button automatic...no idea where the car is now.

That orange hood was just sitting in the brush quite a distance away from the car....found it and put it on for a few photos.

This one came out of the northeast kingdom in NH (northern NH).

Recently sold, kept his C6 and sold this one, used to race it in Maine

I read somewhere he cut the rear fenders out with a hacksaw at the track. I think it was in the rodders journal a few years back when the featured big johns '61.

Yeah those cars are tight in there! Scoot the motor that far back and damn!!! But Im guessing that he is squeezed between the motor and the door.

Also this pic is a double feature! Streached nose Corvette on the ramp truck in the back ground, too.

Here's a shot of my car from '68. I wasn't alive in '68...it belonged to my dad's friend. Not really a hot rod, but had a set of mags on it and a scoop on the hood, so it was pretty cool. 365 horse, four-speed, 4.11 gears from the factory. I'm also posting some photos of it these days...

I was hoping to see this car in this thread! Bob was my ex-father in law and my dad worked for him for years. I think I still have a pic floating around here somewhere taken in a mall when it as Old Orange II.

For any guys that like early Vettes (or Modified eliminator) this You Tube video is worth watching. It reminds me of why I like the cars and spend so much time trying to relive my youth I guess-Jim

I remember when that orange 62 was on ebay. Wish my wallet had been a bit fatter. I really like the stance and the windows etc.

Here are a couple more that I wouldn't mind stumbling on-Jim
