So I found this on craigslist for 3000 and I went and checked it out cause surprisingly its only like 4 blocks from my house and it ended up being a girl who knows my brother and I offered her 2000, but I told her to wait because some other prospective buyers were going to look at it. which I am not sure is good or bad and i wanted your advice on what a good price would be.

    Some info on it:
It has a 1957 235 that was rebuilt a couple years ago with only 1000 miles on it.
It has the original ****** with the 3 on a tree and supposedly its fine as well as the clutch.
There is only surface rust and it has nice original floorboards even which is amazing to find in Washington although the truck is originally from texas.
They said it runs fine but currently is leaking gas out of the tank so they didn't want to start it but they seemed very trustworthy.

    Here is some pictures:

The plans would be to put a disc brake conversion on the front and use it as a daily driver as is hopefully.

    I just want your advice.

Thanks for the pm about the tank. If the tank is shot I kind of want to get it out of the cab and under the bed to make it a bit safer and have a little storage behind the seat.

It does look like a pretty solid truck and doesn't look to have some of the issues that a lot of them have. The dents aren't a big deal and I would rather deal with dents than rust any day. A big rubber hammer will probably take care of most of them to where you can work them smooth when the time comes. It's easily worth the 2k you offered and closer to 3 isn't out of line from what I can see.

There are several ways to get it to run for a minute or so including filling the float bowl of the carb with gas. That would let it run for from 30 seconds to a minute. Or unhooking the line from the fuel pump to the tank at the fuel pump and putting enough hose on it to stick in the top of a plastic bottle of gas that would let it run for several minutes.

I figure i can get it to turn over and I trust the person selling it, but I am little more nervous about if everything else works because I can't really drive it and check due to its current state and I don't feel comfortable buying a non running vehicle because I never have. Its a big leap for me in my learning experience but I figure I have to sometime.

based on the gun rack, its definitely from Texas Use a boat gas tank to byp*** the leaking tank (after draining it.)

That's a great looking truck from what we can see in the pictures. It would seem to be worth more than the 3k they're asking, if you can get it for less - so much the better. Can she show you receipts for the engine rebuild?

    Good luck!!

Haha thanks for all the advice and I offered her two last night and today she got offered her 3000, but she called me and said she would much rather sell it to me since I seemed so young and ambitious and excited to work on it and she thought I would be a much better home and she did not need to the money. So guess what!

I got a new truck, ***le and all.

Best part, she gave me all the receipts and she paid 3500 for the engine to be rebuilt and it only has 1000 miles on it and I paid 2000 for the whole truck!

I feel bad buying it for so little, but she was excited and now I can't wait.

Great buy! I looked at a 47 here locally that was a complete body, with no frame, and didnt look to be quite as nice as yours. Except this one was $3500.

I sold mine for $3K which was too cheap. The body on your truck is much better but mine had 4 wheel disc brakes, new wire harness, ect. Either way,you got a great deal at $2K because you are starting with good sheet metal.

  21. sounds like she knew what it was worth.. but hooked ya up anyways... not bad... have fun and change that tank out lol....
