bigboar- Joe- Sorting through my dad's photo collection the past few days, I have found some more pictures of Phil Freudiger's car. Here's a batch from 1956 when the car was still running a flathead. You can clearly see in a couple of these photos where the 27 T bucket body was modified at the cowl to that angle, and that the side panels of the hood were formed to fit the customized bucket. Nice touch with the streamlined wind-deflecting flair to the cowl in front of the driver too! Maybe these photos will be of some use to you in reconstructing the car. If I find more I'll pass them along. Jim Otterstrom
Wow thanks for the great shots,I got in touch with the owner of the man with the engine he said he would post some great stuff soon, seens tom cobb owned the so cal coupe and the engine was in it for a while along with a few other important cars, the motor a 255 chev. wasent a 283 de stroked . Anyone who wants the history one of FIRST car to go over 200mph in the dirt facebook me at shane freudiger. Much info on the real hot rods of yester years. The freudiger team still races today, and most likely is the longest running hot rodding family in history! Not to mention still running the same class as the 50's!
Hey Joe... What's the latest here? Any new developments? I know you've had your hands busy with other cars and marrying off daughters and what not... but this is the first I've seen of this thread and now I'm hooked. I gotta know how this one's gonna play out.
Anyone know if @bigboar had an opportunity to get this most interesting and real real fast Roadster resurrected?...He hasn't been on in some time... Hope all is well with him and yeah this was one of those epic threads that happens at this great forum of Hotrod/Custom greatness...
https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...enized-hotrods.1002926/page-109#post-13135623 ...Just Curious if this might have been this Hotrod somewhere along the line...Real Interesting Motive power is that a Ranger Aircraft Engine?... Truly One of the best Periods in Hotrod... Credit to Photographer, Owner
Anybody know @Rootie Kazoootie he hasn't been on the HAMB sine Dec 1 2020. He used to post a lot of good stuff. I hope he is ok.
It’s a Ford banger running a 4 port Riley head. Riley 4 ports had intake ports on the drivers side and the 2 port Riley had intake ports on the passenger side. Photo credit to Dan Iandola (RIP) from his George Riley Racing Scrapbook.
@bigboar I'm sure would have done, and may have, a Standup rebuild on that 200mph plus Lakester and probably ran it too as he was a racer himself...
Last I heard Ralph Whitworth had purchased the nose and was collecting parts to resurrect/clone the T as he owned the engine and many other parts from Tom Cobbs. Alas Ralph passed away in 2016. I have not seen anything since.
Sad that is...would that Ralph Have been Hamber Bigboar Jimmy? I'm suspecting not as Bigboar last posted in 2017...so perhaps he picked this up after Ralph's passing in estate... I appreciate this update, these types of individuals who would respectfully undertake such restorations are few and far between...I hope it has a revival someday...
@Fordors thanks for the thorough details on the engine...they sure made some super cool upgrades for the 4 bangers...
Ralph was a member on here as rodster. I am trying to recall where I seen/read about the planned Freudiger/Cobbs T resurrection.
Jimmy here's another Thread started by @bigboar... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/alum-nose.545991/
@Stogy I remember that thread. I purchased this negative last year, sorry for the shitiness. I am currently saving up for a large format negative scanner. Photo from 1961
...That's a gorgeous Hotrod @Jimmy B, I'm always amazed at how colorful Go fast was back then...so much black and white which is also an ambience of its own, color really adds a dazzle...nice acquisition for your collection and for our Hotrod hungry eyes... I guess that Thread is still elusive you were thinking of...I get it...it'll fall into place...
