First off THIS IS NOT A RAT ROD ...Now that thats out of the way lol, I figured I'd start a build thread of my 1928 Essex 2door Sedan that I plan on driving on the street, do a little drag racing and wanting to take it to Bonneville and if it meets the criteria , I want to shoot for the 150mph club (totally new to the Bonne thing so a lot of help needed in this department) .. Would appreciate any and all input.. Here's some info on the build so far.. 2 x 3 x 3/16 frame .. '40 Ford front end with split wishbones ...Ford 9" rear (gears ?? TBD) with coil overs, torsion bars etc.. Engine: 360ci small block Chevy, Brodix T1 alum heads, Inglese intake with 4 Weber 48IDF carburators, Eagle crank/ rods, 13.5:1 compression w/ Ross pistons, full roller w/solid roller cam, csi water pump, and as of now, a WC T5 5 speed trans behind it will also be getting a full roll cage built to NHRA 8.50 e.t. specs pics so far... The day i brought it home.. paid $300 for the body..not bad i'd say lol Chopped 6" now
I like the moter mounts. What is the WC out of, what bellhousing are you using, keeping the WC tailhousing and keeping is mounted at a angle? I am asking because I am using a WC in my model A.
The WC is out of an early 90's camaro i believe i got it from a buddy along with the bell housing ... when you bolt the bell housing on and bolt to the motor the trans mount is flat but the shifter sets a little tilted towards the drivers side
thanks a lot for the compliments on the motor mounts.. just wanted something different and stumbled on these wrenches
Yours looks like it is going to be a nice Essex when you get it done. A lot of people never heard of a Essex. Here is one my Son and I did in the mid 80ts.We still have it.
Buddy of mine gave me a big box of oversized tools they were throwing out at his work. Never knew what to do with them till now. Hope you dont mind if I "borrow" that idea. Very sweet and good to see more "odd rods" (Im working on a 29 Nash)
Gearge... Very cool! I really like the color of yours... And yes you are right A LOT of people have never heard of Essex. When i bought this i was told it was a dodge but i knew different but didn;t know it was an Essex and i'm glad it was because i didn't want just another run of the mill ford/dodge/chevy even though i am a chevy enthusiast lol..
JT.. thanks and yeah like yourself i'm glad so hear of as you put it "odd rods" ..And you are more than welcome to "borrow" the tool idea lol.. To me thats what we're here for to get input/ideas/help from other people.. good luck with your build and hope to see some pics
