I'm for MOKAN all the way. I already have to go to a match race in Louisianna on the 20th so the 27th is good for me. I finally will have a car there with Rand Man so I gotta go! Brad

    It's tradition...

Besides, we gotta put fresh flowers on the pig's grave.

I buried what was left of the pig (the bones) on Sunday following the drags. I said a few words over the grave but they were not good words. I brought all the epuipment for pig cooking home here to the shop. All the stuff for cooking is in my storage (junk pile) if we need it. The stainless flue pipe was a temporary rear bumper on a blown 40 Willys but it is now leaning againist the wall in a corner of my shop.

The 27th at MOKAN is really good for me. We will be running the "Just Glad to be Here" 53 Studebaker at Bonneville and so that will give us a little more time after we get back to recover. I do prefer the Saturday following the begining of racing at Bonneville for our annual HAMB Drags as I know that this works best for those returning east from Bonneville.

  8. No pig was planned this year, Carl has good food at cheap prices. We had planned on doing the group feed thing at Jims house Friday night, that was the best party of the weekend anyway:)

The 27th works much better for me. The Heartland Hot Rod Reunion at Great Bend, KS, is the 19-21 this year, including an official Flatheaders of Denver race. Maybe those that can't make the 27th can stop in at Great Bend on their way home from Bonneville. NHRA rules apply, but some nice nostalgia and newstalgia for the nitromethane buffs.

Mokan the 27th works for me. Had a great time there in '03.

  13. I vote for MoKan.
I won't be doing B'ville so, the 27th sounds fine with me (selfish, I know).
Great atmosphere at MoKan. I wouldn't want to change that.

Well I am not sure I can make it on the 27th. Like others I have been making plans around it occuring on the 20th. My new wifes family lives in Dallas. We had planned on going to Dallas the week before the drags and then coming into Joplin on the 18th or 19th and then leaving on the 21st for home. If it is moved back a week that is going to make it near impossible to go as my kids have to be back to school before the 27th. Which means either we go to Dallas earlier and then drive out seperately for the drags which is more costly or the kids will have to miss the first week of school.

So I guess all I have to say is let us know soon what is happening so that we can make plans or I know I am not going to get to go.

I was going to go with Clark and the East Coast guys on the way back from Bonneville... I still think Mokan is the place. Looks like I won't make it if they don't.

I like Jerry's idea.. it keeps the whole HAMB Drags - Bonneville trip realistic.. if it ends up the 27th I won't go to Bonneville... you also mentioned somewhere else... any idea where?

Ryan once mentioned the idea of having regional HAMB drags at some point. I think the HAMB National meet should remain at MO-KAN.

  21. For what it's worth, it would work better for me on the 27th. Never been before and really looking foward to it. I' ll try to make it where ever it is. Just let us know soon so I can make sure to get the vacation time turned in. Guess I better get moving on the car!

You know, I like the idea of the week before Bonneville....that way my kids wouldn't have to miss school either. But looking at Mokan's schedule, looks like they have something scheduled for that Saturday as well...

MOKAN for sure. As someone else said, don't mess with a tradition. I wish I could make it but that's not gonna work with the current date. I've been planning on heading there from Speed Week. Maybe I can make it in '06 if I plan better.:D

What about Aug. 18th, 19th, 21st or the 22nd? We would have to take more time off work but it may be an option.
