Hey I just joined H.A.M.B. I like this site. A lot of the cars are dear to my heart. I don't particuly like hi dollar builds or billet I like rat rods within reason. I don't like radically lowered cars or uncomfortable things can't be driven for long distances. But that is my preference, an *** for every seat is a good rule. If you like it go for it. I went to high school in the late 50s + most of the cars were some what ratty. There wasn't any hi tech welding equipment available like there is now so body work, unless done by a proffessional was some what shoddy + above what the average teen could do. While I was in school my main auto interest was stock car racing at Freeport stadium on Long Island NY. My mom + dad both raced + I was a gopher. I then joined the navy + thats when I went nuts with cars I bought a 39 Ford tudor in Key west rusted + banged up. but ran After that a 53 Olds with a B + M Hydro stick ******. It was a factory stick but kept blowing ******s [37 Buicks] They got hard to find after awhile. While I was in the navy I bought a 34 Ford 1/2 ton for $75 I made G/ g***er out of it + then I removed the fenders + ran D/altered. I was running a 59ab with sharps heads + 4 97s with a Kong ignition it turned 88mph @ 8.2 in the 1/8 at Islip speedway. After that I got into bikes Indians + crummy Harleys. Managed to lose my drivers liscence a few times because of motor cycles. I was working as an auto electrician full time + also worked at Custom Cycle in Bellmore part time I sold my Indian + bought Knucklehead I then moved to FL [Greenacres] where I still live. I went to work for Honda but still rode Harleys + aHonda once in awhile. I built a C cab at the Honda shop with 302 Ford, a 60 Ford econoline with a 302 + a 27 T roadster with a 327. I then went to work for Harley Davidson of Palm Bch. My next project was a 52 Dodge pick up with a 68 Road runner sub frame with a 383 [ ran good]. I then took the body off the dodge + put it on a 4 wheel drive Chevy. I then went to work for Palm Bch Water Utilities where I worked for 21 years + retired 3 years ago. Now on to the present, in the late 80s my brother bougth a 33 plymouth coupe. 327 350 turbo trans 12 bolt rear, he didn't do much with it. We drove it to the turkey run afew times but after that it sat under atree in his yard with no back window + it filled up with leaves + rotted the panels out. He called me 1 day + said Hey you want my old coupe I ain't gonna do anything with it. soI wound up with it. 3 years ago afriand started a model A roadster with a 55 Plymouth 6 in it, I said my coupe needs a motor like that, he said I have a good running 48 Dodge 230 you can have for $100. So I started building it. Its got a milled head tri carbs split ex =+ full race cam. I bougth an adaptor to bolt the 350 autoto the engine. My brother died while this was happening so it set me back abit but I have engine in + I had it started briefy. It should be on the road in a couple of days. The biggest part was explaining why I replaced a V8 Chevy with a flahead 6! Lanny Haff
Love the build man, diggin' the salt flat style. Reading your post was almost like listening to my dad, who oddly enough is one of my biggest influences even though I've fought him every step of the way. Welcome aboard, and good luck with your build.

Hey Lannie, welcome from the opposite corner of the country. Great intro. That's quite the induction setup on your Ply.; should make it very unique from the usual 350/350. Be sure to check out the Old Farts Club...... Robb
Hey, Lanny, Great intro, welcome to the HAMB from another gray beard! I like your coupe. After fooling with Model A's and Early V-8's for years I'm doing a '33 PC coupe. Good luck with your project!
Thanks for the warm welcome, I didn't realize there were so many old farts on this web site. Being as how old farts have vast experience there should a wealth of good information available here Thanks again Lanny
