Planning on installing a 351 cleveland in place of my present 350 turbo 400 in my ford 34 3 window coupe. Any body have info as to weather i should go with 2 or 4 barrel heads for street performance? Also a c4 or c6. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Street, probably 2-barrel heads and a C-4, but the C-6 is darn near bullet-proof but it is big.

just try to mix and match so that you end up with a decent say 9.5 to 1 CR if you can using the 2-barrel heads.

Either set of heads will work great. Don't believe the old myth that 4V heads are no good for the street. I have three 351 C 4V powered vehicles that will shred the tires at will and have plenty of low end power. I have had a 4V head equipped '70 Mach I for 26 years that sees thousands of miles of street driving a year with plenty of smiles. A properly built C-4 will easily handle the output of anything, weighs alot less than the C-6, and requires 25 HP less to turn.

Both work real well. My two cousins have them in their coupes one 3 window and the other a 5 window ( 1932 ) one has a World Cl*** T-5 the other a Top Loader 4pd. The C-4 is much lighter and now you can get them bullet proof. I know guys that use them behind stroker Big Block Fords. The 2V heads will give you a little better grunt on the low end, but both flow extremely well. Depending on how you cam it and your own taste for performance, you can tailor either engine pretty easily. The 4V obviously has the huge valves in it, and will like higher RPM a little more.

Im all for the FORD IN A FORD!

That being said, IMO, either one of those set ups 2V or 4V are good. The C-4 is a great and very plentiful unit.

If it was me I would run the 4V and a C-4, that way you have good steetable HP with no "I shoulda ran a 4 Barrel" regrets. Make it a smaller carb so you can still keep a bit of your mileage. Run the plentiful C-4 and not only does it not take a s much to turn, you also will save on overall weight = better miles as well. Depending on what car your putting it in a C-6 may give you installation issues a well. It has a larger bell housing.

Let us know your choice, and what car it is going into.

If you have both available, definately the 4 barrel heads. One of my buddies had one in a Mach car, and it was a BEAST, but very streetable.

    Have run both & like both 2 & 4V engines. 2V typically had the FMX & the 4V got the s/b C-6

  8. The 4V heads work fine the real deal is that you very seldom if ever see the potential of them on the street unless you have built a high winding motor and have really low gears. It doesn't mean that they won't work well breathing at any RPM is good, it just means that you probably won't rev it far enough to take full advantage of the heads.

Either head is good, but if you go with the 4 barrel head don't try to run 2 barrel exhaust manifolds,HUGE mismatch[personal experience]!!You are most likely to find a 351C in the 2 barrel version, and the 351M is a totally different animal. ROY.

Over 400 HP and a stall on a C4 and you will eventually grenade the servo piston that functions 2nd and reverse, the arm will pop right out the center, all the chunks will get into the trans and done. The C6 exists for a clear reason. You can spend 3 grand on a modified C4 or run a stock C6. If you do run the C4 get yourself a trans jacket, the servo is right next to your right foot.

You can build the 2v engine and use the 2v to 4v intakes that are available. Low end and the 4v. Besides, the 2v heads have huge valves also. Use split lift and duration cam. Smoother idle for the street but will really perform. The intake valves flow way more then the exhaust valves, therefore the split lift and duration.
