Iv had this body and frame stored away for about 8 years now and finally decided to do something with it. I couldn't decide which direction to go, I had a 350/350 combo in it last week...not really my style so I pulled it and opted for the 1950 8BA and '39 top-loader. The motor was rebuilt with .030 pistons then the car it was in got rear ended / totaled...so the motor has super low mileage. Here's what I have decided and started doing....So far it's been channeled 6 inches, rear Z'd 4 inches and a 4 inch drop axle up front. I think im gonna chop it about 5 inches, '32 shell with a 3 piece aluminum hood.....Here's a few pics of what I have so far and I will try and post as many as I can when I can. Yes, this is the same car I have listed in the WANTED section, I am still willing to trade it for a '40s coupe project. Pete-
Looking like a really solid start there Pete and I know you'll nail it if you keep it long enough to get it running. So what are we looking at here? •Drag car circa 1952-55 •Pearl Purple Painted body (say that three times fast) •Dark Purple Wheels with moon caps and 6.00's up fron and 7.10 (6.5" wide) cheaters out back •Black Frame •White firewall •White Banjo rear •Black Wishbones •Chromed backing plates with white insets •Black engine with bead blasted heads and intake •2 97's with Stelling and Helling cleaners •'32 Grille Shell with a white insert •Two bucket seats with simple white pleats and purple piping •Chromed front axle •Hood top only with the top of the air cleaners popping out •Center mounted SW tach with SW insert Just a quick mental build feeding off my wants and wishes for my '32 one day hahah!!!
By the way I am digging the stance. It's nice to see a neutral stance on Model A's every once in a while.
Pete, You sure have a good collection of parts for this build. IU hope you stick with it and build you a East Coast Hot Rod ! Looks like one heck of a great start. I may be from the East Coast - sure would like to own this one and be a cruisin' around in it ! Dave
Oh and I would paint "ALTER BOYS" on the back decklid in white paint...perhaps the letters would just be outlined.
I know I have a habit of doing that. Sorry, I just love bench building cars and if there was a way I could make a living at it I would damn it! I can't build cars as easy as I can think up the details and ****. So I find myself doing a lot of daydream builds. I'm working on getting my skills up so I can turn those piles of junk in my garage into real cars one day.
Why is it that your *** keeps following me in each thread and commenting back on my posts. And what amazes me most is that you seem to read every post I throw up but keep missing that I make no qualms about telling everybody that I am as green as can be when it comes to building Hot Rods. I'm in the midst of building my first ground up car but what the **** does that have to do with anything? I've seen nothing productive come out of you in the last three weeks I have seen you on this site. Get off my balls dude.
huh?,,leave this thread alone to the real hot rod builders,,i sent as PM to jeffeyjones alredy,,so lets get back to petes cool *** A...
Definitely needs the axe! Nothing more righteous than a C&Cd model A. I'm sure you've got this one already built in your head, but if you want to build it for me, this is what I like!
Damn it this one has put a lot of miles on running through my head....oh snap! Seriously though, love it.
WOW.... JJ, love you man, I always like when folks give constructive criticism, makes one think. This is going to be a real simple build, nothing fancy....no purple...maybe a dark mustard yellow brush paint??? Pete-
Mmmm...mustard. I've been digging brush paint jobs a lot lately. I plan on giving my 33 one in dark chocolate brown, maroon or dark blue. The Mustard yellow is one of those colors that if ya got the sand to go through with it they look incredible. Sinticket's old model a sedan had a mustard color painted on it and I think it was a stock late 30's color. Looked so nice! Do it!!!
I just located a good 37 top-loader that's already been re-built and ready to go. Ill be boxing the frame and installing the steering box, ill post photo's. Pete-
The pictures here are alot better than the ones you sent me from that twenty year old cell phone your still rocking! It looks great like that and your too tall for a chopped and channelled model a, so I say leave it with the stock top.
Im all ***** for a 41 studebaker coupe now...I want one...anybody have one they want to trade for the model A???? Pete-
Good God Pete. The new steed isn't even in the stable yet and your fishing for another one! Your an addict man!
