I went to the bone yard today and pulled these valve covers. But I need to know what the motor was. The block was huge. In my opinion it was either a 390,406, 427 or 428.
The truck I took them from was a '72

    Numbers I got are:
    D3TE9425AIA
    or
    D3TE9425A1A

    Also
    2E2 and 39

    Any help would be appreciated

looks like possibly an FE 360 or 390 by the year of the truck and the date code is 1973.

They came on FE engines from about 67' to 76'. 360, 390, 427, and 428 They were available in chrome also. You probably have a 360 there.

That's an intake manifold part number. The problem with FE motors is the same block casting numbers were used for different sizes. Being a truck it is either a 360 or 390, but the only way to find out is measure the stroke.
As for the valve cover, all FE will interchange.

jamn47 is correct, these are Ford FE valve covers, These will fit multiple applications in the FE family.

By the way, since you have the valve covers off, change the cast iron manifold if you havn't allready. Those things are huge boat anchors and weigh a ton.

The Ford FE is a great and versatile engine, though it has many tricks and parts that dont interchange. I would suggest if you are going to build one pick up the CarTech book about how to build a Ford FE. That is going to make your life a ton easier before you rebuild it and the parts are blown apart in front of you.

How I wish those parts were for my car. I've actually been going to the junkyards looking for parts to resell to fund the rebuild of my little 200 in my 62 Fairlane. I know that most people know how that goes. I do appreciate all the help from you fellows. :D

the yard owner know you took those off a closed engine? i'm just wondering, because in most yards taking parts off what MIGHT have been a running engine (to them, anyway) is definitely frowned on.
i sympathize with your situation and applaud your effort, but you don't want to step on toes around yards. lose a lot of goodwill that way, and that's something we don't get much of anyway these days.

Doesn't really matter what motor it was, either a 360 or 390. The valve covers fit any FE and are the ones used from 67 to the early 70's. I don't think you'll be getting rich off those so hopefully you didn't pay more than $25.
