takeing the door handles off inside the 48

    I want to take the handles off inside the 48 chevy with out bustin the trim rings all to ****... Any good ideas that worked for you?:confused:

    Yeah, get the door handle removal tool...and it's simple.

    Available at most upholstery supply places...

    i was affraid of that... Lots of snow and im not wanting to leave the house!

    I think those have a pin. Pull the eschusion back and (here might be a springloaded retainer as well) and you should see a small shear pin, use a punch to get it out. You have to both push and pull to get enough space between the handle and the upholstery.

    '47/'48's have a u shaped clip...no pins...

    Bob Drake sells a tool that you push with your chest onto the door panel and it compresses the spring real good so that it is easy to remove the pins. I have not damaged a plastic cover since.

    I just removed them from my 47. I used a handle remover tool. You might be able to use a very small straight edge screwdriver and just tap them out with a hammer.(gently)

    Take a shop rag .work it in around the handle shaft, pull it back and forth, the clip will hang on the rag and pull out of the crank handle. Works in a pinch!!

    Well i did the screw driver trick and pulled them off with little damage.. (well one side anyways)..
