I want to take the handles off inside the 48 chevy with out bustin the trim rings all to ****... Any good ideas that worked for you?
Yeah, get the door handle removal tool...and it's simple. Available at most upholstery supply places... R-
I think those have a pin. Pull the eschusion back and (here might be a springloaded retainer as well) and you should see a small shear pin, use a punch to get it out. You have to both push and pull to get enough space between the handle and the upholstery.
Bob Drake sells a tool that you push with your chest onto the door panel and it compresses the spring real good so that it is easy to remove the pins. I have not damaged a plastic cover since.
I just removed them from my 47. I used a handle remover tool. You might be able to use a very small straight edge screwdriver and just tap them out with a hammer.(gently)
http://www.chevsofthe40s.com/shop/s...e+clips&year=All&dept=Car&searchtype=FT&Go=Go here's the tool you need. also shows what the clip looks like you can figure a way to make a tool or get it out another way
Take a shop rag .work it in around the handle shaft, pull it back and forth, the clip will hang on the rag and pull out of the crank handle. Works in a pinch!!
