Open wheel guys, what kind of horns are you running on your cars? looking for ideas... Old bike horns, stockers? I bought this old deco EA one on Epay and while I think it's absolutely gorgeous, I didn't realize just how big it was until it arrived on my doorstep. 7" in diameter... Unfortunately, I think it demands a little too much space to be used on my car. Wish it was about 5"...

  2. That's a pretty SOB for a visible horn. Hid mine under the p***enger side floorboard and attached to the crossmember under the front of Model A seats. HId them because they ain't pretty, but you can hear them when they work like a 72 Caprice dual horn.
Worthless w/o pics here on me.

I mounted mine to the grille shell mount. The horn is a tiny (@3") cheapy motorcycle horn (like 12 bucks) and has a little bracket that I just bent to a 90 deg. It does stand out if you are looking.. I may paint it black to make it disappear.

I think I put 1 bid on that exact horn! I'm going with a ahooga horn under the p***enger floor board. Cut up an old late 30's brake light & license plate bracket to make a bracket for the horn. Still need to wire it in, started on the repo harness today.

Same here..the pic's a little dark, but you get the idea. The horn works great. Here's what I've been doing...when I built the car, I just just hooked up some very generic stuff (horn, tailights, steering wheel, air cleaner, etc.) & then when something special comes along, I buy it & replace the generic piece. So far, I've replaced the air cleaner & steering wheel, but I'm still searching for the right tailights & horn. That 7" job is nice...hmmm...

I put a reproduction 12 volt '48 Harley Davidson springer horn on my roadster. I mounted it to the firewall on the p***enger side near the bottom.

Is necessary to have a relay or just a fuse. And what size fuse to use.

I like the aaoogah, but on an open wheel you have to get creative with mounting

I was hoping to do this with the EA or maybe mount it on the firewall, but at 7" I think it will just be visually distracting. It would probably look great on a firetruck... I think I'll hunt down an early bike horn of some sort. Trying to stay away from repop stuff for this car. Any other ideas?

I always liked the two-tone sound of the horns on my '57 Chevy, so I'm putting them in the 'legs' of the K member on our '32.

  20. They're visible and they're loud.

ford ranger horns, cheap easy to find, plenty loud. Paint em flat black and mount them low so they kinda disappear

I like a loud horn, specially on a quiet car. Nothing like watching someone come unhinged when you sneak up on them from behind and lay into the horns.

I really have to watch myself so I don't junk up the roadster. I debated a long time before mounting the little horn but I think it kinda adds something.
Now looking again I'm not sure. What do you think?

I been using a HD Springer horn on the cars we build. They are designed to hang out front on the scooter so they should hold up under a coupe or roadster!
