    what causes this condition?
my 62 impalas 327 will bog down in the low rpm range. for example turning a corner in second & the people in front of you slow down to 10mph. when you step on the gas lightly to go it will lurch and stumble then go. lurch again and stumble then go and so on. Some times the go portion of it is so violent it will squeal the tires but a second later you think the car will stall out. the only way to stop the cycle is to push in the clutch and feather the gas while releasing. it doesnot do this at mid rpm range and there is no hesitation as the gas is applied. is this caused by a overly rich condition? or is it a timing issue?

How long have you been driving a stick shift car? Is the motor modified? What kind of rear gears? With my car, if I have to slow to 10 mph, my clutch is in (modified motor). I ease the clutch out while I give it gas. No problems.

10 years on a stick shift 3 months on this car. slightly modified 327/300hp bored .30 over mild cam holly 700cfm carb. m-21 4speed with 3.36 gears. the last few stick shifts i had i could slow down and then accelerate again with out having to use the clutch. this one dosent like it though.

would the accel pump do it over and over if you keep you foot on the gas or wouldnt it only happen when initally stepping on it at low rpm?

read the adjustment procedure for a holley closely then check your timing and start adjusting. All you need is a timing light, a va*** gauge, and maybe a set of reusable bowl gaskets.... oh and some time and patience. I ***ume it is a double pumper should be pretty forgiving. nothing more fun than a muncie and a quick reving mill hope you have fun!!!!!!

hell I can't run my 55 at 10 mph in 1st gear much less 2nd. It doesn't sound to me like you have enough gear and with the 700 Holley, going down to 10 mph in 2nd , it's not going to like it. Typically a 600 carb would do the job just about right but you know your car and we don't so , I'd readjust the carb, make sure you've got enough timing. The 700 may be dumping too much fuel at such a low rpm for it to respond the way you want. Just my.02
