This thing started out as my yard art last time about this year. The main body is 27 Chrysler, '39 Ford Briggs cowl, and the rest is garage built!

    LIL TIMMY,

I am looking for a set Webers to fit an old Cifford intake that looks like yours. Can you tell me some info on them?

Nothing special, just 48IDA carbs Not cheap though, and many used units need throttle-shaft seal work. I got lucky IMHO, intake came just as shown w/ carbs & linkage for 600.00 It's the most expensive single item on my car. real tunable though, and since it's an individual runner design, hard to overcarb. IIRC, actual italian webers run a little more than the new ones available. look to spend 400.00 - 550.00 each for carbs.

I picked up that dual four intake for $140 delivered from ebay a year or so ago. I had never been mounted on anything until I got it. I've seen Webers on these and they can be purchased from Clifford. They come jetted for the engine and work well I've heard.
I really like the carb and header set-up on yours! Loud????

I'd been thinking about building a model A Tudor for a long time. knew how i wanted the body to look, but couldn't decide on power, E.G. four barrel, flathead v-8. didn't want to go sbc. a very good friend of mine found the intake @ the portland swapmeet & bought it(thanks Red!) that and the fact i'm a old ford truck guy settled it. always had a soft spot for the 300 motors. i love the "Pipe Organ" look to it. figured individual exhaust pipes would echo the carb stacks style-wise. Pics show the ripple-pipe, trumpet ends just mocked-up. I don't have any road miles yet, but i used some of the small slip-in baffles above the bend. It really mellowed out the sound and i can add some more in the lower sections if needed. Money is real tight around here, but it's getting damn close to the road. Nice paint/finished interior will have to wait a bit.

Yeah I sure do like the looks of the multi carbs. I picked up the IR intake with linkage several years back, wanted to use on 63 Fairlane Drag car build. Don't think new ones will be in my budget for quite awhile though. :( So might have to look for a single 4V type or build something else to start with.

I'll have to check if he still has it, but i know of a NOS Algon mechanical fuel injection set-up the guy wanted 750.00 for. Super bad-***!!!!!! I wanted it sooo bad:eek: moneys just not there now.

  13. don't know if anyone else has done this, but years ago I put 429 ford intake, and 427 chevy exhaust valves in a ported 240 head. had to mill the chevy valve stem down and re-cut a keeper. that and a set of big block chevy rockers gave me the valve train geometry I was searching for. that old motor was a breathing bast**d.:)
Oh yeah, used 351 2bbl flat-top pistons in the block. had to mill 30 thousandths of the tops. don't know the final compression ratio, but it would peg a 300 lb snap-on gauge.
that was what I thought was the ultimate setup, till I saw the dragster with the 300 engine with furnace welded boss 302 heads on it. Intake w/webers on one side, headers on the other. what a fire breathing monster.

I am a big fan of the 300/240. Good motors. My old 77 had a 300 and it was super reliable. The 240 in my 65 F100 has served me well and hasn't left me stranded on the side of the road :)

A side cover would be very easy to build.... I think I'll try one, neat to do some custom stuff to the panels. Thanks for the idea!

Some call it that. To my knowledge it was never used by UPS. There may have been a test fleet but I am not aware of it.

YES!!! There is a gentleman on the west coast who will build you a beautiful CNC'd side cover with fins or without. Also matching finned fuel pump block-off plates. His name is Mike. Unfortunately I do not have his contact info, but if you go to www.fordsix.com you can find it in the big six forum with a little searching.

    That's it!

His name is Eric, not Mike. Mike makes straight-cut variable timing gears.

I hope you'll try two two-barrells at some point.
