Help wiring shifter for 700R4

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by wiretwister, Jan 14, 2011.

  1. Need help with 2 wires that go to the neutral safety switch in about a 87 Camero. I understand the black with white stripe and orange with black stripe goes to the neutral safe sw. Also the blue and green wires go to turn on the back up lights.

There are two other wires (very large wires maybe 12 gauge) that are green with white stripe and purple. These two wire are switched together in both the park position and blink between OD position and neutral. What do these wires turn on?????

My 1982 Chevrolet El Camino Shop manual shows only the 4 wires to safety sw and back up lights.

Old legs require an auto ******, so I will be using a 700 R4 auto OD ****** in my 32 roadster with an 8Ba flathead for the engine.

Thanks much for all your help. bill

  2. I'm going to fathom a guess that those lock up your converter. Does your shifter give you the OD option on the shifter?

Oh and don't make any excuses for running an automajic. If someone don't like it let them take an aeronautical *********** at a tumbling piece of pastry.
