I ordered a chrome electric fan and they sent me a black one. They offered to exchange it but I went ahead and used it. I did get a nice 60's retro tach for my Nomad.

I have got parts form speedway and only have had one problem with a bracket. i sent it back, thanks to the techs there they helped find one that works. i have got bogus parts form Sacramento vintage ford also. i still have the brake lines i got from them and they must be chi-com because they are not machined deep enough to even seal against the fitting and feel like you could blow them up like a balloon. i think everywhere you go you can get **** parts just depends on what day and what batch. I think some people are spoiled and live close to big city's where you have lots of options.

No one is questioning their customer service, its really pretty good. What is a crime is their ethics and how they re-package items and remove certain things from the original box to make you purchase them seperately, when it was the manufacturers intention for you to have them along with the product originally. The first clue is if you recieve a box from him that is still in the original manufacturers packaging, like Edelbrock or Holley, and it is evident that it has been opened and taped back shut.....something will be missing out of it.

Its all about the dollars anymore. How much these big companies can **** out of ya.A carb OH kit should supply ALL the parts for the carb to be rebuilt.Suppliers aint stupid they know what it takes, but want to **** you for everything they can get. Thanks for the heads up on this paticular item. Its sad that we should have to read the superfine print on everything we order now!!!

Obviously you did not look or read what was in the kit before you ordered it.
There catalog and web site show and describe exactly what is in the kit.

    Description from Speedway's web site

"With this kit you can use three junk yard 2G small base style Rochester carbs and put together a set-up for a fraction of the cost. Includes two rebuilt bases for the secondary carbs, gaskets, jets, power valve and modified piston, idle tubes, plugs, hardware and new primary throttle shaft and ****erflies. This kit includes an adjustable progressive linkage kit."

It does not mention about needle and seat or accelerator pumps and for those who state everything is Japanese made what they sell this kit comes from Vintage speed.

So quit badmouthing a company when your the one at fault.

I order from speed way and I never have a problem. I'd pick up the phone if I were you, you won't get your problem solved by *****ing about it on here. Tell them you're missing the parts and they will probably send them out to you.

I tried buying from a couple local "hot rod shops", they either never have the part, have their heads up their ***es and don't know what I'm asking for, or they simply order it from speedway and put another 40% on the price.

For that kind of service, I can just order from speedway.

Also, how does a float, power valve, accel pump, filter and needle/seat cost $120?

You should be able to find those parts for $120 and have $80 left to show for it.

When was the last time anyone got a rebuild kit that had a float and a power valve in it?

Everythings a bit of gamble these days. The entire auto parts industry is just not what it use to be. Very few old school parts houses around any more (at least around here). These chain stores are a joke. I went into one and asked for a McPhearson Strut/Spring compressor and the person pointed to an air compressor and said "this is all we have". I can under stand the op's frustration for sure. I'm not a "parts type" but can say that I was pleasantly surprised when I got my crossmember kit from speedway. I was worried it would be an expensive mig welded piece of do-do but instead it was very nicely tig welded and will save me some fabrication time.

I think maybe the "homework" wasn't done on this one,but a point I'm seeing in this thread is these companies keep pulling parts and pieces from their so called kits and were supposed to accept it.I think phrases like "when was the last time" are B.S., because there was a time.So in five years we are gonna get a OH kit with no gaskets!!!!Somethings should be expected. No ill will towards any one on this post just pissed about what we have to deal with in todays market.Hell we pay to much for the **** already, and now we only get half the **** we use to.Is it gonna change,HELL NO, just don't like it.Damn I need another beer!!!

Ok, I'll word it differently then.

I've rebuilt plenty of carbs and I've NEVER, not once, not ever had a rebuild kit from any company, hygrade, carter etc, include a float. Period.

There's no great conspiracy about carb kit float removal. They've always been a separate part.

    Carcrazyjohn:
I forgot it was a tri-power that you were working with, the $$$ makes sense now.

Have you called them to see if they short-shipped the accel pumps and needle/seat? It seems strange that the kits wouldn't include them, every kit I've ever worked with had pumps and seats.

I ***ume in a carb o-haul kit that ALL THE NON-METAL PARTS ARE INCLUDED. So, unless the accel pumps are metal, I would expect to see them in a kit.

  14. just spend a FEW hours trying to get my oil pan on. ordered speedways "tru-seal" **** the old cork gasket and rubber ends are WAY easier than this tru seal ****. so damn thick to the bolts almost werent long enough.

i have got some things tho that i did like from them. sometimes you win sometimes you lose with the. i have sent back parts before from them that they mislabeld.

Okay, I get that... it's the same reason people go to Walmart and I don't. I didn't see "quality" in your list and that's a big one for me. I guess I'm weird, I like the old parts that have Ford stamped into them. They haven't let me down yet.

Kelly, here's my question for you. Why use Speedway if you're a Hot Rod Parts guy yourself? Is it just not putting capitol to make large purchases?

Guys, my recommendation is Jon: http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/

He knows his sh!t and you will not be disappointed.

  17. We sell parts from various suppliers some items we buy from speedway on a wholesale basis others we buy from the same manufacturers as they do. We make some large purchases at times far more than your average retail buyer. because if this, I feel that I do have more of an insiders view of the company. Just like sears, walmart or most retail /wholesale outlets there are some items that I just prefer to purchase elseware and thats my right and yours as a consumer.

I don`t have a dog in this fight, but when I need a carburetor kit I use Daytona Parts Co. The kits they have are the most complete I`ve found, and usually have everything but the float.

Speedway's always done right by me. When there's been a problem, I give them a call and they take care of it.

This time its not there fault I made an ***umption It was all there .My original gripe is ,Its incomplete and they should sell it without the gaskets ,So you know where to stand when it comes time for a rebuild..........I would not sell a product that is incomplete .I understand about the floats ,But the other stuff needle and seat and accelerator pump .Rest of the kit is great ,And looks to be very good quality ....Just falls a little short that is all.........

Sure seems to be a full force anti Speedway movement on the HAMB.
I've made a few purchases from Speedway, and never had a problem with their parts, service, or delivery. I purchased my g***er axle for the Austin from Speedway, and about 5 months after purchasing it I got around to ***embling my brakes, only to find the caliper bracket bolts were missing, along with one caliper slide bolt.
I called them up and told them what was missing and they sent me everything without even a whimper. And I got it priority mail too!
I toss most of the catalogs and delete their emails too, but only because I can access the site by computer and don't need all the paper around.

Carb kits with floats for many carbs ARE readily available, and have been for years; but they aren't cheap.
