Straight 8 and a 5 Speed?

OK, so I'm thinking that I'll keep the straight 8 in my '50 Buick and buy an adapter from transmissionadapters.com for a 5 speed from an S10. Since I don't know squat about how this would work, has anyone out there completed such a task? Would love details, pics, and anyting else that might help. Feeling really stupid at the moment!!

A guy at Autorama had a Muncie M-21 behind his Straight 8...used the stock bellhousing...elongated two holes to match up with the Muncie...and did a little creative clutch parts matching to get it right...worked good, he said.
