Yea I got me a mopar. 1949 windsor with a 235 inline chevy out of a 58 chevy i think. Has some realy cool speed parts on it. This is going to be the drive wile customize car, since I seem not to be able to get my truck done. Needs new shoes and some tlc but she will nice ride to cart my ass around in.
That's the oddest engine swap I think I've ever heard of. Neat though, what did they use for a transmission?
It has the 2 speed glide from the chevy in it. I think i will leave the chevy in. Not crazy enough to go 100% mopar yet.
Very cool. yes, strange swap, but hey.. it works, it's cool and it's different. Isn't that what all of us are striving for? I swear if I hear one more knucklehead refer to having to keep it Chrysler, Mopar, Chevy in Chevy.. yadda... yadda.. I'm gonna hurl. Love seeing this kind of stuff. VERY COOL! KEEP IT COOL! Thanks for sharing it with us.. you're gonna have some fun!
That looks like a pretty natural swap to me! Do I see a set of Fenton headers on the Stovebolt? I'll bet it sounds sweet. Nice car, you should drive it down here and show me! Brian
Ditto...^^^^^ I happen to be a huge fan of late-40's mopar myself. If you want to make a swap (not that you HAVE to), a small block from an early 70's Mopar would work just fine. I know several projects where that has been done. Drive the hell out of that stovebolt until you have a donor heart, then execute the transplant!
Yea is has a fenton split manifold w/ smithys, 2 carb offy. I am keeping the 235 for sure but will swap the trans for a 700r. I have old daddy here on the HAMB wipping up a disc kit for it. It is getting bagged and chopped and few custom touches also. Dont tell the guys over at p15-p24.
That is a really sweet ride! One thing I would do is put some older style air cleaners on it. (my .02)
There are always some folks who feel the Mopar/Mopar thing is the only way you should go. To each his own. It is rather interesting to see a Chevy six in such a car. Maybe it went in easier than some other motors. Many tend to hit the steering gear box. It looks like a nice original (in appearance) car. Will make a slightly unusual kustom. Have fun and drive it in the meantime. By the way, there are a few P15-D24 guys like me who visit over here as well. But I'm not gonna tell on you.
Hey man, nice ride! I have a '49 New Yorker 2 door myself, and am planning a chop for later this year. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take and post pictures of the process you go through. I have photoshopped and planned the hell out of mine, but there are a couple of obstacles I just can seem to figure out. Namely, how to slant the B pillars so that the rear windows still roll up. Let's stay in touch! Chris
I have a running slant 6 from a 64 Dodge Model 440 complete with an automatic transmission that I'll donate, if you promise to swap it into the car and get that stovebolt out of there.
that engine would be gone if it were my car... if it weren't a Babbitt engine.. then it would probably stay...
440 mite be a smidge on the big side for this narrow old girl. I will keep the hood shut when u's mopar guys are around.
I think I would go with a little hemi if i get the money for an engine swap. I shure get my balls broke over that chevy in there. But thanks for the slant 6 offer.
