Alright guys and gals, I have a chance to pic up this 54 but cant decide if im going to or not. I have always loved the lines on the 54's but would like to see some pix of other rides before i make my mind up. I'm not sure if i would put her on the ground or maybe do some kind of street/strip car? So all pix appreciated, help me make up my mind.
This is the car posted in Johneycarboms album from AZ....is he selling it? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/album.php?albumid=14527
Looks like a nice Straight car to start with. I'd say do it. I wish I started with something that nice.
I'd have to agree with the other three in that if it doesn't flat spin your wheels and you don't already have a plan drawn out in your mind it might be better to p*** on it. That is one of the body styles that seems to look great no matter what theme you go on with it though. I rode many a mile in 54 Chevys because my grandparents had a Tudor, my best friend in high school had one and my crazy girl cousin had one so they are at the top of my list for nifty cars. To me, lowered but not bagged, two tone paint job and nosed and decked with a later six with a great set of pipes would make a hell of a cruiser.
If this isn't inspiration, then I don't know what is. If you are excited to make something out of it, pick it up. If you're on the fence, then maybe you'll find yourself short on motivation later on.
look at my avatar brother. My vert was a junk yard find that had no engine trannie or rear axle but the body was complete. I got her in 1982 and am on the third build right now It can be done. No reason you cant. The parts are very available and the things you can do are tremendous.
Good lord, do a search. There are at least two HUGE threads on the HAMB with '49-54 Chevy pictures and/or '53-54 Chevy pictures.
