    Same here. No problems, even crossing the Sierra Nevada Mountains, or in the high desert.

    I love how someone always chimes in to say that this wont work.

    Mine is a 3 row copper radiator for a 65 mustang. It is low, non dropped front axle though.

    Will you cheap ass bastards just let a local radiator shop build you a radiator that fits the shell and does not looks so damn ugly,you know buying those cheap China or Mexico made radiators are putting the locals out of buisness and where are you going to go when you really need some help. Daily drivers I can see but not the hotrods,a mustang radiator in a early shell looks like something that belongs in a ratrod and you dont want that do you.

    To me, and many others on here, hot rodding is about making parts work and often doing it on a budget. I would never pay the cost to get a radiator fabricated, but hey, that's just me!

    I'm running the 3 core on my stock 283 sbc, with a regular fan setup & it works just terrific. I bought through Ebay for about $125 if my memory serves me well. It is great...no issues & I left the outlets were they were & just bent the hoses to comply.

    Thanks for your advice Jeff. I'm sorry that my piece of shit doesn't fit your idea of a hot rod. I'm sure you wrote the book and could probably find many things wrong with my piece of shit. I appreciate you giving me a heads up

    cheap ass bastard :cool:

    Better check your facts, theres a reason why they switched over to alumn! It gets rid of heat much better then copper!
    Seems like thats all the Radiator companies are making now.Don't think it being done cause alumn is cheaper, its better.If it wasn't Walker won't be using it.

    Maybe if you have the extra cash you can give it to him to have one made.Shit i don't even have 135 bux for a AZ chinese one!

  12. The reason for aluminum radiators is weight. I can not find my book right now. Copper has a better heat transfer rate but weighs more than aluminum. I will supply the numbers when the book is found.

    Autozone 2 core Mustang radiators have been in both these since 2001.
    Thats alot of miles, the truck did get hot on me one time at the dragstrip...... but it was my 37th pass that day lol

    Why buy a $500 to $700 radiator when you dont need it?
    I did buy a Walker for a Coupe that I know will need it.

    It's not just the weight.....
    Aluminum is a little stronger, allowing aluminum radiators to have larger tubes over the more fragile copper radiators, hence more capacity, than the same "outside" dimensions of a copper rad...
    But yeah, copper disipates better....as does straight water over "coolant"....:)

  16. Thermal Conductivity of materials

    copper = 220
    aluminum= 132
    fire brick =.358

    These numbers are at 100*F. The numbers are dependent on alloys added to the metal and temperature. Some mechanical engineer has probably developed a computer program that optimizes the design of radiators. The program is probably based on parameters like coolant flow, air flow, material, space limitations, size of tubes, number of tubes and the thermal conductivity of the coolant and the temperature of the coolant.

    My neighbor is using a 3 row Mustang style radiator in his Austin gasser. It's welded aluminum tanks and only cost $159 locally.
