    I know of Harold Lloyd!

Conway Twitty is a name you can,t forget.

And Conway city being in 'Yell' Ark. kinda goes with the subject.

But dont get what Spock has to do with it???

Why am I in this post? 'You brought this up again?'

If you were listening to AM rock and roll radio and you didn't get chills when he sang "it's only make believe' you probably needed a blood transfusion. His music was certainly a big part of the teenage scene cruising on Saturday nights around here.

I never knew he was a car guy but I just really liked the way he could get you to feel the emotion in his songs even if he was covering a song. Rock and roll and hotrods, you can't have one without the other.

I'd love to see any pictures.

  5. Spock looks like he's pissed in the picture. I'll bet he ran out of Dylithium Crystals. Nailheads never got that great of fuel mileage, anyway. He's a doctor, he should have known.

If Kitty Wells had married Conway Twitty, she'da been Kitty Twitty...

Is it possible that Harold LLoyd Jenkins was related to "Grumpy"? Or should he be Bill "Grumpy" Twitty?!

Well, Conway DID own a Pacer... http://www.amcpacer.com/famous/owners.asp

Yup, after his death his children (all adults) all got in a big court battle over ownership of the Pacer - supposedly one of them was conceived in it.... no BS..

Used to live in Hendersonville TN, home of 'Twitty City' - it was big news there.

Right, Bob. Now, imagine if ol' Harold had been traveling toward Conway County via Perry County and crossed the bridge on Hwy 60....He might have called himself Toadsuck Twitty!

Haven't found a Rivi yet, but he was a car collector soooooo

  15. That is what I meant. Are they still alive? The class of 1957 have to be in their early 70's now. That song had had some true meaning in this town.

Sharkskin or Nudie suits? Because Nudie suits are bomb diggity ish!! Nudie also made cars for some of his clients.

The one on the bar back at Buck Owen's Crystal Palace was made for Elvis and won by Buck in a card game.............so the legend goes. Only 18 Nudie-mobiles were made and not even half of them survive.

I have that same book. If I remember right its a black one right? Sitting stock on some factory spoke type wheel? Maybe 3/4s shot of the drivers side on some big country estate?

I am at work but ill double check when I get home if you thinks its the same one.

Sorry no dumb joke this time around. At least it kept getting bumped to the top.

Lew Dewitt, the original tenor, left the Statler Bros in early eighties, due to ill health from Crohn's disease. He was replaced by tenor Jimmy Fortune. Lew died in August, 1990 from heart and kidney disease due to complications of Crohn's, which is a horrible disease. His stomach did not explode.

Huh? I always thought the man swung the other way myself. That hair is a little suspicious. Always something to learn here on the hamb.

The book is titled " CLASSIC AMERICAN CARS " by QUENTIN WILLSON and published by DK PUBLISHING,INC.

Page 120 and 121 feature a 1964 Buick Riviera owned by Conway Twitty.... complete with yellow and black plates that say "TWITTY".

I dont have a scanner but I could snap a couple of pictures if you need. Its black on black and has Buick wires.

I knew I had it but confused it with another book "MY DAD HAD ONE OF THOSE...." which also features a Riviera but its a 63 I believe.

    Hope this helps.

I still dont have any jokes.

Duncan, somehow, I don't think he'd have had quite the success with a name like that! :D
