I knew the word (chartreuse) but not the color to go with it. That's o.k., the gov't says I'm color blind.

Bright neon pink with bright neon green valve covers and then mount a black light under the hood. :p

Amazing what little tid bits we remember. BTW - I painted my 383 Silver, orange clashes with the peach.

I've heard this for years. Does anyone have a picture of one of these motors? I've never once seen one.

Edit: I googled it and found some info from a message board with a pic

That is a interesting web site. I always thought chevy only used orange and red for the mouse motor. By the way, the King is dead (flathead), long live the King (SBC)

Yep, not an expert here, but have seen the yellow 265's for 57.

When asked "why yellow" I say "why not"
Once saw a yellow engine on the cover of
a hot rod magazine, embellished in chrome.
Never quite got that image out of my mind.

It doesn't matter, as long as the car has red wheels.:D

My '64 C10 came from the factory with a 283 painted Alpine Green. Zero evidence of the motor being any other color. The guy I bought it from knew who the original owner was and swears that it came that color since new.

Not quite sure what this has to do with engine color on a tri-five, but okay...

    Sorry,
I thought I was replying to a topic re: colors of 283's in '64 Chevy C10's! Not sure how I replied into the tri-5 topics!
