Okay, got my 10 lb soda blaster, now I have a dumb question. If I want to blow #12 glass beads through it, will it work? I'm thinking of cleaning up AFB carb bodies, intakes, and other such aluminum parts, and restoring a somewhat original finish. If this is feasible, what sort of nozzle size, air pressure, and bead size would I use? #12 SEEMS to be the right size. "Super fine GLASS BEAD, such as size #12, will peen and polish to a very fine satin finish, leaving a nearly undetectable profile. It gives 1,000's more hits per second than a larger bead size, such as a #7, thus giving a super fine satin finish..."
I'd start with almost no pressure and work your way up to jst enough to get the finish you want. Glass bead on aluminum can go bad quickly. WAY more aggressive than soda.
After thinking about it Budd is probably right and it will most likely shoot the sand you want to and no more than you want to do probably wont affect the nozzle or wear it an You might look into this and not make changes to your soda blaster though http://www.harborfreight.com/portable-abrasive-blaster-30979.html It says store item only but it would probably be fine for what you are wanting to do. A guy can make a sand blast nozzle with a hand full of pipe fittings but the nozzle part it's self wears out pretty quickly.
