My 291 DeSoto was 195 Factory HP. With the blower, roller cam, and 2x4's I'd be LUCKY to hit 300 HP...
I was not only trying to figure out what is was after the boring but how to figure it out myself down the road Thanks george
345 Desoto, Will you dyno the blown 291 when you get it running? I would think it would make a lot more than 300 hp with all the stuff you have done to it. Sounds like a solid 450 from my guess? But,,I don't know what all you did to it. Tommy
Sounds high,,,why so? A small block Chevy with a blower and roller cam should make over 400 hp easy,,,,why not a Hemi. The Hemi ports were perfect for supercharging,,,straight in,,,straight out. A good small block will make 300 hp with a 4 barrel carb and a stock cam. I don't think a Desoto needs a blower and a roller to beat 300 horse. However,,,I could be wrong. Tommy
With enough cam and compression, 300 HP shouldn't be a big problem. With anything higher than a 260 degree cam you should pro"bably consider a high stall converter. Go with some bigger valves like 1.94 X 1.60" Chevy stuff and it should work just fine
My buddie went thru that convertor thing and he ended up with a 10" vega convertor for a 350 turbo. Stalls around 3-3,500 Tried all the others (1,900-2,400, 2,400-2,800, they weren't enough to keep it going.... I put the 10" vega in mine and it's fine...just need more gear (which I'm working on now) Here's a pic of his truck, 276", custom manifold, runs great
