Cats do that sort of thing because they love their owners... :)

wish that was fact here man! got 2 old early 60's cub cadets we use for moving snow, they sit out side in the open all the time but the mice keep building nests under the blower houseings and inside the air cleaner houseing. only thing that helps is moth balls and steel wool. just seems to them shelter is shelter. the colder out the bigger the nest! what they can climb up is even more amazing. i find nests in the garage ontop of the 12 foot high wall headers. straight up 90 deg walls.

cats ther are about 6 ferall cats here, still tons of mice and chip monks a rpita!.

I would run the car till the exhaust pipe is warm to the touch. that would burn off any rodent remains. Stay around the car until the cat is cooled off ( should not take long today or tomorrow looking at the forecast ) . Then bag the car. If the bag is sealed any thing that is alive will not last long.
Any for those that have not had a ride in that model of Benz, that thing is a rocket ship.
I would loose my licences in a hour or less if I owned that car.

Hahahaha..... I don't hunt! :) Guess I just don't have it in me to shoot an animal..

  7. I like the steel wool idea but I would ball up a piece of chicken wire and shove that up your pipe, needle nose pliers will easily grab that and you will get all of it out without a problem. Since it is not as packed as the wool is it will not seal any condensation if thats relevant.

Ive had problems with gopher rats in my barn where I keep my cars. I bought some of the green squares baits like the professional exterminators use. When I put out just a couple of the squares, they treated it like a snack. But, when I dumped the whole box of bait squares in a 5 gallon bucket with a little trash and dog food, I found 2 dead rats within 2 days. I get it at home depot. As far as the debris in your exhaust, you may need to have the muffler removed and shake it out to prevent a fire, but at least it would be contained to the exhaust and you would have a temporary flame thrower. Might be a first for an AMG!

I have read that putting Irish Spring soap around the garage does the trick. It seems to work.

For the tailpipe go to a plumbing supply or home center store and get a rubber plumbing plug, the kind with a conical shape and a bolt with a wingnut through the center. The wingnut expands the plug for a tight fit.

If you read his first post he is asking how to make sure there are no critters in his car before he seals it up in a big storage bag. He is also concerned about making sure there is nothing in the exaust as acorns came out when he started the car.

  16. well good and bad the tire was okay
but evidence of mice under the hood ... we will vacuum out air intakes which are very hard to get open to the air filters .. the best we can and try to get the bubble up while warm enuf today ..

we will set up traps inside the bubble at accessible spots .. hopefully its not as bad as it all sounds

stiil in pain more doctors tomorrow

  17. **** **** ****

we cleaned up the car and pulled the bubble over it

we then noticed a mouse had been caught in one of the traps we set around the ouside ofthe base...
good we may have caught the one from in the engine compartment!

so when we started the zippers about 5 foot from the start one came off half of the bottoms teeth..were bad in one small spot
luckily the two zippers were all on one trac so after duct taping up 3 feet of zipper area we started inflating
trouble is we had to tape up both zippers to get a seal .and keep the bad half of the zipper from coming apart more

at half full we noticed it gets way bigger than the measured dimentions
    ooops

all the tools and peg board hooks had to come off the wall 4 feet away from the car

remove a hanging shop light over the car

tape over some potentially offending protrusions too.

..don't know if it will hold full pressure ?
we do not have a trap set up inside now ...
I am already planning a double board pinch clamping devise for the bad section

i'll let ya know what happens

  18. I'm not so sure your method of storing it is the best ... I remember reading an article (I think in the Canadian "Old Autos" newspaper) about an inflatable "bubble" or "bag" (for storing a car in) that also came equipped with a tiny compressor that kept the "bubble" inflated. As I remember it, the car in the article ended up with all kinds of mildew in it.

Before I stuck a brand new Benz in a bag, I'd make damn sure I was confident that type of storage "system" works. Have you stored anything else that way?

  21. this stall is heated by a baseboard heat , carpeted too it used to be the upholstery shop

its just to be varmit free
    which i believe is impossible

living on 13 wooded acres in the country has its drawbacks

driving it 24/7 the only solution

  22. I understand that you don't want varmints getting in ... what I am commenting on is the possibility that the "bag" storage system may bring/create problems of its own.

If you haven't used the bag system before (or know anyone that has), it might be a good idea to research how other people have fared using that storage system (and I don't mean comments on the manuf. web site). I would hate for you to "de-bag" your car ... find it varmint free ... then find a m***ive "science experiment" going on in the interior. Might be worth looking into.

My inlaws live on half an acre, I parked the wife's old Grand Am outside their garage for two weeks, in that time mice had pulled underhood insulation down and built a nest on the master/booster. Another friend of the family had the wiring on his portable sawmill destroyed by mice ... I can totally understand the worry.

  23. i had given that some thought in this room was a pool chemical spill 3 years ago .. I felt that a system of drawing the bubble air though a oil dri/ dissicant box or filter would work
not that chlorine fumes cycled through for 3 months would hurt anything .. it rusted every tool hung on the wall above the spill...?
    Dunno
    almost unnoticeible now ..
The fumes do not deter the mice
