I was trying to think of what to put on a get well card: "I'd rather get run over by a Chevy then drive a Ford!" "You took the safety out of a neutral safety switch" "Have you been driven into a Ford...lately?"
In my case I had just put a Painless Wiring Hot Shot relay with ****on under the hood. This allows you to bump it over or if the ignition is on start it from under the hood. The neutral safety on the truck is through the clutch. I wired it correctly but something works different in the wiring of the truck as it byp***ed the neutral safety switch. Therefore allowing it to start in gear
Glad you're ok! that could have been a lot worse man! When you are healed up have a great time using your legs, I can't imagine the new outlook and thankfulness you have for them!
It falls under the "negligence" clause (aka "idiot") & will jack my rates up $30/mo for 3 yrs. I'm looking at $1000 + $250 deductible but I have a feeling the chrome alone will set me back at least half of that! Btw, anybody know a good body shop? I don't need a super kustom shop, just a good ol' fashioned place that still knows how to work w steel & not fibergl*** jap ****. I'm in echo park so it'd be great to find something nearby but doesn't have to be. Thanks dave
I like the 1st one best. And hope none of y'all take offense to johnny1290. He's been stuck in Ohio last 2 months with nothin' but pro-street on his brain! That stuff'll screw yer head quicker than the crack rock all the kids are so into.
Had a similar experience years ago when building my 35 Chevy. Neutral start switch was out of adjustment as was shifter and this is result. Hit my SUV and fortunately I wasn't between the two cars when it jumped forward. OUCH!
Years ago I worked as a mechanic at a Audi dealership during that "runaway" car craze which was nothing more than poor pedal placement causing some idiots to push both pedals at the same time claiming the car took off. We adopted a phrase at the time "Our mechanics stand behind every Audi we service, because we won't stand in front of them".
I had an incident at the Round Up last year. The guy accross the isle would start up his car every so often to show how much noise he could make. It was a 2x4 6-71 BBC with zoomies. He finally started it in gear and it took off and ran into my car. It shoved my car back 15 feet. Thank god nobody was pinned in between. The isles were full of people and there were a lot of kids and strollers. He said he had a neutral safety switch but it didn't work.
