They are about 6 or 8 miles from the Pomona Fairgrounds in San Dimas.
LOTS of 32 and early V8 stuff there. :D

They are in the old firehouse. The area they are in is real neat. Old timey. IF you go there ... be sure to eat at the Italian place next door. The wife and I eat there every time we come to LA ...

    :)

I have bought some cool 32 stuff from the Early Ford Store. They also are HAMBERS.

  6. I got my 32 original unfilled, unchopped grille and shell for less then 2 strombergs rebuilt. I considered myself fortunate. I have seen an OG at CHHR for 600$ before. I think I need to invest in 32 shells when I see them for that cheap, would be a better investment then my current 401k.-Weeks

    UNLESS

you are one of those anal, upperity, snobbish 32 guys ( that everyone talks about :D ) and you do not have a original Henry Ford to put the grille on ... I suggest just buy a repro and be done with it.

I have a pair of Henry Deuces ... so I got caught up in the " real deal " thing a LONG time ago, back when 32 stuff was a lot more plentiful. I am helping a friend build a Brookville car and I had him buy a repro grille instead of selling him one of my SPARES ...

Like Krylon32 said, the original ones usually fit a LOT better ... but at two and three times the price ... a repro is great on a repro car IMHO :)

I paid 350 for mine for my roadster, it's chopped and filled using a hunts tomato soup lid, my dad bought a couple for 800 unfilled with insert. The market is f'd right now because of the economy and good repops, but still people dont want to sell them for less than they bought them for so it makes a lot of good and bad deals out there

I had a few grills a few years ago, but sold most of them now, none were less than 1000$.

  13. i got a 32 grille shell from a afamily friend for free:cool:... but its missing half of the insert and was smashed pretty bad where the raidiator cap goes... im going to run that untill i can find a better one, but the prices the originals go for are rediculous to me, and i can not afford one... :(

I bought the one on my roadster last year for about $400 or so (can't remember exactly) on Ebay of all places. It needed some repairs where someone torched notches in the sides, but it was otherwise in great shape, no rust with a nearly perfect insert.

After repairs and modification to fit a '31 body...

    ok, I'll play...

an older buddy called me up recently and asked if I'd come over to maybe buy some of his extra '32 parts cause he was needing money to finish a '36 roadster...uh, yeah be right there.

Get there, and he has a mint firewall, dropped big beam, killer hood, and a real nice grille/insert/ with bullnose/stainless trim...says he wants $1500 for all 4 pieces to buy a new front suspension for the '36. Deal.

Sold the firewall, axle, and hood for $2000...got a free grille/insert and $500 profit...he was happy and so was I.

The free bare metal grille/insert is on the right...:)

and no, it's not for sale

    RCNUT223 THE ANSWER IS NO.
32 original is the it .Every carshow I go to I check the shells to see if there real or fake ,All new inserts are just not the same as the originals ,Inserts originals in good shape are 400 to 500 dollars alone .Some may fit well but there is always something that just does not look right ,Some repos dont have the 3 holes that hold the shell lacing on ....

I paid $101.61 (at the then exchange rate) for mine in September last year. It's a fairly good shell with a damaged bullnose and no insert.

I bought and sold several complete shells with inserts in the last year...and ended up with last two. They are uncut, unfilled shells and the second one will match the original "paint" on my sedan. And I ended up about even on the whole deal. :)
