I agree that St. Charles would be a good location. Just my 2 cents.

Here's one of my pix from the 2007 Cobblestone Nats in St. Charles...you've seen this ride. This was before it went "large"...the builder is local and does great work.

wow.....well....it seems as though St Louis is full of some drama.....
seems like a lot more than Chicago or KC or Milwaukee etc
The guy that is in charge of that location is on vacation until Feb 4
(must be nice to get a vacation)
so we wont hear anything til then.

The weekend after Greaserama was the only weekend that seemed to be open.

The only way we can proceed with this is if they give us access to the dirt track there.

Doing a show at a casino, historic downtown, etc is simply another car show............

I (and the friend of mine in St Louis that promotes the bands there) would only want to do this if it were an event.

this would WELCOME pre 65 cars, pre 75 motorcycles, music fans and art fans

we would have the 30000 sq foot indoor hall as well the track and most of the grounds..........

so we would want to have the indoor area have vendors, nice show cars that are historic or really nice kustoms or show rods, and swap meet inside (if they wanted) and have bands inside as well.

I know there are a lot of shows......
but when talking to others in the area.........Sept 10
they seem to think that is the only weekend that would be a possibility

again - the real attraction here would be getting your car on the dirt track

so this would be a rain or shine event

Don't let these clowns fool you. There is a large group of good guys who are traditional hot rodders in the area. A lot of them are old guys that have been doing this **** forever and do not go to car cruises / shows etc. just because they have been doing it so long. There is also a group of guys who like to whine and cause ****, but that is everywhere you go.

If the show was promoted as a traditional hot rod/custom event and not a rat rod rockabilly voodoo hoe-down hootenanny (that was a mouthful)... then I think we could get a good turn out of nice cars from the area.

I think Belleville / Belle-Claire fair grounds would be a good venue for a show. The fair grounds are old and kinda ****py, but in a charming way. There are several medium size swap meets here during the year and they seem to handle the traffic just fine. Just up the road is the down town area with a old style main street with a few restaurants and bars. It would be a good area for a pre-party etc...

There are also lots of small towns and river roads that would make for a great "reliability run" or poker run that could add a driving aspect to the show.

Also, Belleville has one of the only still functioning drive in theaters in the area.

I'm all for it. I'm tired of going to cruises around here w/ doo-wop music and crybaby dolls. If you need any help, let me know.

If you decide to have a go, I'll help what I can , I know lots of local Rockabilly type bands and the local PBR rep .
St.Louis is full of drama , sorry but it's the truth . Been doing this since 87 with Archway Olds club , we put on 500+ car shows every years and judged others in the past . I know what it takes and what goes on behind th scenes .

If you really want to know who I am PM me or call, enough BS in this thread though 636-299-7402

i like the idea of a day time car show and an evening at the drive in...

(also, **** everybody from st louis, i hate all of you individually and collectively. your car is ugly and slow and rusty and dumb and is probably an ugly, dumb, slow, rusty four door, with unicorns painted on the trunk lid, a glovebox full of **** lube and a cooler full of bud light and diet dr pepper)

Well then there Monsterfake, I hate me too.But then again thats not the topic of this thread. Lets leave all self loathing unhappy about ourselves stuff to the local board where we can poke fun of each other without looking like the fools we are. I want this deal to happen and think it would work if the negative people would pipe down and take the postion that" lets see what they can do" I do know giving Goodguys 50+ bucks or NSRA 50+ bucks for the privalige of paying 5 bucks for a soda isnt what this hobby should be tolerating. Also note my lack of profanity I had to fight back the desire to call you guys WEAZELS again...

i'd rather $5 for a soda and $50 for an under-the-table hummer at a strip club. wait, i thought this was about a car show. will there be strippers or just a bunch of poles?

I venture over to the other side of the MO state every now and then & the only thing that is important the "1" time that I have been there is working on MF's car......I have heard about a few car events, but "I should have been there last weekend", kinda' like back when I used to surf and lived in SoCal.....I did go to "Twin City day's" and heard a band sing "Home school girl".........and there was a 40' coupe in the "Twin City" area that I chased for a couple of years, but my CHUMP *** "brother-in-law" was more worried about JEEP's and now he's into shooting guns..........oh well........I did give him a roadster body back in the day and 6 years later it is still in the yard.....oh yea, Brian Fox is the man on taking you on the "back roads" of the STL....

p15, you can drive up anytime you want. I live stones throw from Main Street and we can bomb the boulevard and cruise over to THR1LL3Rs shop on the east side for nice entertainment.

well.....the price is high. I will be calling some locals to find out if there are any sponsors that can offset the initial costs of doing this. At this point I dont think it can happen due to the cost of the insurance, track, and indoor building.
I was thinking of having a swap meet inside the 30,000 square foot building on 1 wall....then vendors on the other - and have hot rods/customs that were really nice on the inside.
The cost is already high - and we have not even talked about ambulance, fire rescue, police/security. Those are unknowns that can really sink any type of show.....
not to mention the possibility of bad weather/local drama/and other shows that may be taking away from possible attendance.

So at this point, since we have no extra $$$ to put down deposits (the fairgrounds need to know now and in order to promote the show properly we have to commit now - promotion for an event a month or two in advance is NOT enough time to properly get the word out)....we will have to wait til 2012 and see if that will be a better time to do the show.

If someone else wants to do this - go to it.....I will let you know the details of contacts and costs involved.
