My original black plate California car.
Fell in love at first sight. Snarly crate motor and passed from the last owner to me with a lot of regret. He had a real full plate and the car had to go and go fast.

I just couldnt say no. Pretty little to do except enjoy. Has strted me questing for a 59 though.

Can enjoy the build of the wagon at a slower pace now, not feeling rushed to git it on the road this summer.

I pretty much stole this from my dad.He has had this car since 67 he is the second owner. That means he has had it 9 years longer than hes had me.Still running the original never rebuilt 283 and three speed on the tree.Been repainted 1 time in mid eighteys.

:cool:i should ad it was parked for thirty years in the garage.Only to be started twice a year and driven twice once to be painted in that time.then my parents moved and thats when i said i can store that.I cant believe they went for it.Anyway after tune up stuff a new clutch and brakes, master cylinder a few other things its on the road.It blows the blues now but i got a fresh 350 to be put in it by spring.

What the S-3 front end? The wood in the bed? While that still an unusal El Camino, this forum and thread is for the early ones, I think anything newer than the '66 Elcos is really pushing it.

    I KNOW I KNOW!!!!!

    its off topic.

  12. The 65 I bought from "Eyeball" up in the Fargo area. Had a 230 with a T-5. BTW, I was at a X-mas party at Paso John's house in 03 or 04 and Steve Hendrickson and I went out to the garage to check out John's 59 elcamino. We walked around it about 10 times [was still stock with factory green paint] and we verbably "built" it for him....good memories. Great cars.

  14. Yeah, I wanted one bad!

  15. was my daily driver and then sold it in 1989 or 90 to someone in Louisville, Ky area. Kinda wonder what happened to it or if it's still around.

  17. I can't help but think "Mustang II" when I see that front end. Not the most flattering.

Well my 66 is not out of the paintshop yet but hope to have her finished by march. Not really the painters fault. After having it painted Mango a honda color I did not care for it too much looked to much like a penny. The painter told me if I did't like it now I won't like it 6 months from now, so I had him repaint it, kind of an orange pearl. Let my son use it while in High School. Built him a little 383 pump gas deal. The car ran 11:70. Seems he made more money of friday nights than working the rest of the week. He drove it daily. Now I have it back and it's my turn to have some fun. It's a black plate car and when we removed all the year sticker the orignal 66 sticker was still there. We use that plate on the front of the car now. When finished I'm sure I'll be plastering picture everywhere.

sorry about the rules they have here, but there is 72 a few replies above and I did have a 1964 and a 1968 SS L88 El Camino... But again I have been recognized as one who always broke the so called rules...To me winning is not everything, it`s the only thing..and I always won....But to be on here I can keep it too my older other junks to satisfy the rules....here's a few the other junks of mine....would these be ok? I would rather not having to defend age requirement of my toys...they go back to my 32 Deuce

There's still not an El Camino that was requested by the thread author. A lot of your pics were taken in the 70's and 80's. I'm 65 years old and have hung around with Al Bergler since the 60's along with Bobby Rendon(Poncho), Ron and Gene Logghe and I've seen your cars run many times in the old days. I beg to differ with your statement saying"To me winning is not everything, it's everything...and I always won" I disagree with that statement.......
    Take care, Mike

  28. Hopefully the mods will clean this thread up a little.

Without the late model with the MII front end conversion & Walt's "junks" this could be interesting...

'Golden Idol' was out for the first time on Good Friday at a show here in England. Belongs to a friend of mine, Disco Dave, and is gorgous. What you can't see too well in the pics is the Gene Winfield fade paint, and the high lights on the tops of the fenders, and the line of tuck n roll that runs from the back of the bed cover and thru the interior.

Here are some pics of my 59 i imported to New Zealand about 5 years ago. It came as a driver, 283, 3 speed with o/d. Has the usual floor rot throughout but i was aware of this at the time, aluminium panels had been glued and riveted in to prevent flintstoning it down the road. Its now in the rebuild process, all i can say is thank Christ for replacement panels! Its taking time but it going to be worth it:D
There are a couple other pics for motivation:)
