Anyone else building old dodge/plymouth other mopars?

    Trying to find the shop space to scatter the '36 humpback panel and make the parts fit back in the right proportions. Anyone have a spare Hemi laying around? I think it will make a great calling card for my custom paint business.

    The grille on that '36 is PERFECT. I wish the one on my '37 was that nice, at least the center section. Even the crank cover. Lucky dog!

    Moparmonkey, not really a Lucky Dog, more like a 'Bird Dog'!!! Hunting for many years finally turned up that grill and center section. The pot metal needs to be stripped and alot of prep work to get it perfect. I just couldn't settle for an aftermarket custom grill and wanted an original look for the front of this old panel. It was worth the search in the end result I hope. I have several correct '36 hood sides but just trying the look of '38 hood sides for a more horizontal long stance. I've owned the panel truck for 12 years and collecting (HUNTING) the right parts for that long to make it right. I've found that Dodge parts aren't laying around everywhere like Ford and Chevy stuff.:D

    I havent seen one of these yet - 56 Dodge Kingsway Deluxe. Its an import with dodge front clip and plymouth everything else.

    no pics yet,but I'm workin on a 46 Dodge pickup on an 88 dakota frame,has a carbureted 318 magnum and an old 727 trans out of a 65 van,or something,it was a freebie so that's what I'll use. Also a 62 Dodge Town Wagon that I rescued this past summer,has a 318 poly that might replace with a 440/automatic for the fun of it. -30 below up here in the frozen northland this AM! You warm weather guys don't know what you're missing!

    my 1918 modified project. The transparent frame didn't work out so Gary Brown (brownsmetal) is going to build me one of those nifty steel frames and we'll try this again.
    Engine is a 325 Dodge Poly with 6x2's. Hopefully on the road this summer.

    Got me a 42 pickup. Originally a Navy truck I guess.
    Still a loonngg way from being done, but tryin to bust arse and get her done by this summer.

    The cab is pretty much done with...
    I have the metal to start building the frame, just collecting a few more front end/rear end parts and going to go from there.

    I can't remember if the Kingsway was available in Canada, but that Dodge nosed Plymouth was.

    I have a chopped 48 sedan and a 46 2 door Dodges that are Plymouth bodies with Dodge looking grills, quite fond of them!

    Hay ZAQ. Nice cab. How much of a chop on it. As you can see by my avatar, I got a 47. Thinking about a chop. Yours looks good. Can you post a couple more shots of the rear and front to twist my arm.

    39 Plymouth time for an update. I've been driving it for 10 years. I have an extended cab for it. 6" extension with 2"chop. I modified the cab mounts for the frame and I will shorten the bed 6". I am not a fan of a 360. It runs fine but fuel mileage sucks. I reciently aquired a 354 truck hemi and I'm thinking about pulling the Desoto 341 hemi from my Model A and putting the 354 in it. The Desoto is physically smaller than the Chrysler so it will be an easier fit in the Plymouth.

    Its a 5 inch chop. Well...5 inches in the back and like..3 1/2 in the front but with the bottom part of the A pillars bent back and the tops bent fowards to meet up after the chop drop it down more than that.

    But heres the only other recent picture I have of it chopped from the back...

    ZAQ! Thanks on the rear shot. I see you cut it right through the back window. Kind of makes it a lay down "D" My truck has quite a bit of rust thru above the windsheild, but i have another parts truck with a solid roof. Figure I might as well chop it while I cut it off. Any other ideas from fellow Hambers would help.

    Here's my '34 Plymouth. Bought in 1966, 52,000 mile car. No rust ever. 318, 904, 3 inch chop, pancaked roof, etc.

    Need to take some pictures to post...

    I have a 54 Savoy...just got the head and block back from the machine shop, have the parts for a WC-T5 conversion, need to do some work on front and rear suspension...and then a will have a pile of shit with a nice engine, transmission and decent suspension. Just trying to get it back on the road for Roundup this year and then I will work on trying to make it less of a pile of shit...
     
  20. Here is a photo of a rare high performance Mopar. This is a 1956 Custom Royal Lancer, D500 (Hemi), Four Door Hardtop.

    It has factory air conditioning, power seats, power brakes, power steering. The color scheme is the one used in all the print advertisements, charcoal grey metallic, cream and Chinese red.

    In 1956 D500 Dodges were actually Chryslers under the sheet metal (brakes, rear end, frame, universals, suspension) and were successfully raced by Richard Petty’s father Lee Petty. The engines were available in a 1x4bbl with a “highway patrol” cam or with 2x4bbl and a “race” cam. My car has the 1x4. All D500s are 315cu in displacement. The brakes are huge for a Dodge as the assemblies are 12in center plane “Lockheed” type units from the Chrysler New Yorkers and Imperials. This is one 50s era full-sized car that will STOP! Compared to my 60 Corvette (long gone) it would stop on a dime.

    Right now it is being mildly updated and refurbished; I finally gave up on the original Tecumseh A/C compressor and it’s being replaced with a Mopar V2 Airtemp compressor. The engine was completely blueprinted to factory specs except that I am using a 1957 KD500 hydraulic cam and an Edelbrock 4bbl instead of the original Carter WCFB (William Carter Four Barrel).

    I have never see or heard of another CRL D500 Dodge with factory air; nor have I ever seen another 4 door hardtop D500. The 4dr Hts were hand built off the normal assembly line because the workers had to fabricate the rear-door window-winders; it is easy to see where the hand fabrication was conducted.

    Working on a 47 business coupe. Frame has been sand blasted, fatman front suspension, ford 9" rear, triangulated 4 link rear, shockwaves. 2004 5.7 hemi. Great solid frame, no idea why someone would try a frame swap.

    I agree, the only issue I have found with the 46-48 Plymouth frame is they tend to get cracks by the inboard side of the front spring hat. But that is because of abuse and not regular wear and tear I think.
     
  27. my dad and I are building a 1935 plymouth 5-window coupe and a 1947 dodge pickup. the coupe has been channeled, chopped and the roof has been lengthened to give room for a small back seat (for the grandchildren). the pickup is getting ready to be chopped. we will be sectioning the hood to get better proportions and raising the bed slightly to get the top edge in line with the belt line. dropped in a 73 satellite torsion bar front end. hope to get pics soon and then post them.

    I have a 1937 Dodge MC Pickup purchased by my late Grandfather in 1937. We replaced the 218 flathead with a Chrysler Industrial 265 running a Langdon's Stovebolt GM HEI, Chrysler Crown Marine gear driven cam, NOS Edmunds aluminum head, stock 1950's Dodge 265 truck dual carb and exhaust. aluminum flywheel, Langdon's Special Mod WC T5, and changed the rear end from 3.9 to 3.54.

    Have a 48 dodge d24 business coupe, would show you some pix but can't figure out how to get the freakin' things on here. Also in the process of picking up two 33 plymouth two door sedan bodies, got a hp 273/833 combo to go in one.
