I'm interested in learning about these trannies. Where can you pick them up? How serviceable are they? What do they cost? Where can I find tech articles? And any other useful info is appreciated. TIA John
Check on Ebay...there is usually a guy selling manuals on building and modifying them... Hope this helps... Rocky
Rocky, Just checked out your web site. I'm planning on being at Beaver for thr G***er Reunion. I'll look you up in the pits! Thanks for the heads up for the hydros on e-bay. John
Please stop by and say hi..! If you hang around too long we put you to work! lol... I'm really looking forward to the Beaver Springs race.... Beaver Bob puts on one helluva show! Rocky
Try this thread from the HAMB Tech archives: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=147409 Put Hydro in the HAMB Search and look for threads regarding Hydros in the many pages that show up. There were a lot of articles in late 50s-early 60s Hot Rod, Car Craft, Popular Hot Rodding etc. magazines about hydros and B&M Hydros. Dont bother trying to contact the modern B&M Company as they kept nothing about the product that was the start of their company.
Big Jim, I've subscribed to that thread for a while. For some reason, I can't post to that thread. That's why I started my own... John
I do believe there's a Hydro sticky in the tech forum here on JJ/HAMB. The Hydro guy on E- Bay wants $125 for his copied manuals. There are a few Hydro pros on here, Yorgatron is one. Butch/56sedandelivery.
Thanks Butch! Much appreciated. I remember seeing Yorgatron's name on alot of those posts of the outdated thread.
I'll have to look on EBay also. I need a manual for sure I have one to tear down for inspection. UH never mind I can find a manuel for less than a buck and a quarter if I look around a bit.
I have a copy of two "Hi Rank" manuals. One is a service manual and the other is for modifying the hydro for drag racing. I would be more than happy to make a copy of each for you. I've done this in the past and I think $25.00 - $30.00 each should cover printing and postage. I also have a stock original flatpan hydro out of a running 56' Chevy pickup with the small 10'' torus. pm me
got a hydro stick in my 37 gmc . had this unit for 35 yrs , got it from my dad . last summer he came in and handed me some paperwork , b&m "general instuctions" be glad to make copies and send them to you message me an address . it is only general information , fluid type - capacity, shift selector diagram , hydro sealer, installing, throttle pressure linkage and adjustment
Just found this link from another B&M Hydro site. Don't know if it's still a valid source but for those wanting parts to rebuild their B&M Hydro Sticks it could prove useful. http://www.autotran.us/hmparts1.html
There's been a Hydro with clutch parts on the front of it in the cl***ifieds for some time. It's the only clutch-hydro I've ever seen; clutch turbos and clutch flights for sure, but never a clutch-hydro. Butch/56sedandelivery.
