I did a rough sweep through that thread, because there was so much O/T stuff on it.

Even as new as '80s '90s and brand new stuff.

I sort of cut it off at the mid to late '70s, but I couldnt be too precise about it.

Because, like I said, there was so much of it.

This is a site for Trad Hot Rods & Customs, so anything here thats newer than about the mid '60s ( in year and buildstyle ) is here by exception.

The rules say 64 and earlier and the others should be deleted. There was a thread awhile back with at least 10 full pages of Oldsmobile race cars ,mostly 68 thru 72,this is not the forum for them which puts them O/T just like the 70s stuff.

Oh I agree... That post was friggin annoying. I think he posted every photo of every Oldsmobile drag car ever. I think he even had 2 or 3 posts going.

I agree with Metalshapes... You gotta cut it off somewhere and I think he chose right

I don't understand how someone considers 70's funny cars ON-Topic on a pre muscle car Hot Rod and Custom board.

    True...

But then he did get it right when he posted his Question about that here in the Q & S Forum.

So that kinda evens it out...

    :D

  7. Jeez. So we can't even MENTION our thoughts on various subjects? I'm not disagreeing with HAMB rules, or even the mods rules. I'm simply commenting on them. I'm ***uming I'm allowed to here? Please clarify. Thanks.

Why can't the year be moved up,thread is nearly 6 years old.Probably over half the viewers to this thread were not even born by the mid 60's.Change age of posting photos to include what more of the viewers actually saw.I am 60,was fortunate to see the a/fx era, probably my favorite, but early funny car,fuel7pro stock was awesome.JUST MY THOUGHT.

Because we focus on Traditional Hot Rods and Traditional Customs.

There didn't use to be a cut off date.

But then ( if I remember right ) there was a User that abused the Cl***ifieds by Posting lots of latemodel stuff for sale.

So the cut off date was put in place, and after much discussion it was put where it is to keep the musclecars and ponycars out.

So for quite a while there was still no cut off date on the Main Board ( just relying on common sense of the Users ), eventhough there was one in the Cl***ifieds.

But we had to remind people more often lately, what the focus of the HAMB is....

Not having a strict rule as far as cut off date is much better than having one.

    Because there are exceptions.

And there is some really cool stuff that is a bit newer.

But again, that comes down to learning about the place a bit first.

    Read a lot.
Get a feel for what is OK or not.

We can put in a hard set rule...

    Thats easy.

    But we'd all lose.

    My advise is,

    Read Ryans Intro piece.
Be respectfull, get a feel for the place.
And if you are not sure if somthing fits, dont post it.

Dear METALSHAPES NO.1,I have read ryan's intro,2 I was very respectful,3 your answer of get a feel for the place is like saying your a FNG just shut up.Get with it,no one is asking you to loss any tradition.Time moves on.I paid you the opportunity to answer my question by addressing this thread,I feel the answer was far from respectful from you to a member.

Dragway, chill out on metalshapes... He's a volunteer and these are my rules.

If you fellas want to talk post-65 race cars and tech, just roam on over to dogfightmag.com... That kind of thing is encouraged over there.

I honestly do not understand how you can read any disrespect in my answer.

    None was intended.

But it seems logical that a site with as few written rules as we can get away with, and still have it function, will take a little while to figure out...

Well I got a post deleted on there without a doubt because I'm a FNG. I understand the cut off date and theres still posts on there wanting the 70- 80's. I lurked here for a long time. I wont waste my time posting again.

  17. You won't waste your time posting because other people post OT stuff. That makes perfect sense:rolleyes:

I really doubt the Moderators even look at 'status' or post count. They just weed out what they feel doesn't fit the board.

I get a lot of things deleted.

Then again, I say a lot of stupid things.

No idea what you are talking about. Looked at your history and you have had ZERO posts deleted. Unless you have more than one username.

It all seams to depend on the alignment of the moon and the stars, as to what is deleted and what stays at times.
What is traditional is a opinion, not an actual defined time line or method of doing things.
To me it seems as many off topic posts are deleted, as there are on topic posts.

This is getting pretty sad. Here's the way I think of OT threads.....
Like going to a Barry Manilow concert and being upset because you
    can't buy a Chuck Berry T-shirt.
And, NO...I do not dig Manilow!!
    Too obtuse for some?
Maybe my mind works a bit strangely!!

My local Chinese restaurant doesn't sell Italian food. If I want spaghetti I go to the Italian restaurant. Pretty simple really. :)
