I am trying to sell what I consider to be a driver 57 Chevy 2 door post for 14k. I have been offered 2k twice by people who just dropped by. I am willing to negotiate a little, but for that price I told both of them I would pull the engine and scrap the car first. I do not mind getting the questions and just try to honestly describe the car with pictures to back it up. I think it is funny the ads say no tire kicker's , etc like that will stop them. Like saying no spammers will keep those ethical spammers away.

I'm sorry. I should have done a search first. I'm an FNG after all. I'll do that next time, promise.

I'd be happy to put this to rest. I think I've been called enough names already.

I have bought and sold four cars since 2008. Maybe he is just looking for another car. Don't assume.

I am always willing to haggle on my price when I am selling and often price it with "room". However, the time to haggle is after looking at the car. I hate when people call and right off the bat will you take $2000 when the car is priced at $5000. Come look at it and make a reasonable offer not an insult.

Once again. If it's that stupid, why do you waste your time adding your two cents? There are a hundred other active threads to choose from. I think you really like me and want me to notice you.

Watsa matta? Ya gotta get the GERM guy to fight you battle for ya?

  16. You want to have fun, Post a bare boat hull in the free section of craigslist. You would not believe the ridiculous and plane down right stupid questions people will ask. Pics of a bare hull laying on the ground nothing in it and you get; Does it have a motor? what kind of trailer comes with it? what color is the interior? Can i take it to the lake to try out? How some of these people make it through life is beyond me!

I just dont even bother calling these assholes. If thier stuff is as valuable as they seem to figure it is, they shouldn't even have to advertise it. Funny thing is, these ads are usually the guys who are selling '68 valiant 4dr sedans as "classic muscle cars".

Where you been man? EVERY old car is either a hot rod, a kustom, or a muscle car.

My 2 cents on sellers here, I don't care how stupid their ad is, long as they follow the rules. I know most guys do, but I just noticed an ad that's been bumped every day for the last 4 days. Between that and guys posting 'wish I were closer' or 'wish I had some money' a new ad ends up 3 pages back in a days time.

The moderators here do a pretty good job but it's gotta be frustrating when guys either won't take 2 minutes to read the rules or figure rules are for 'the other guy'..

Rmak, you are right on. SIO ads tell you a lot about the seller, so keep looking.

I've never posted that, but I know the feeling. I've seen some beautiful, priced right cars out west, but who wants to spend an extra grand or more to get them home? That's like flushing the money down the toilet.

No offense to shippers. I've used them and they are great. But that's just additional $$ to an already expensive vehicle that you'll never get back.

Looking for a car this long, bitching about sellers, now bitching about shippers. You say flushing money down the toilet, fellow you are in the wrong hobby. Old car=money,time-more money, more time. That all equals the enjoyment of the finished product and all the real car guys you meet along the way.Either get a car,get busy or maybe just find another hobby.Hell theres plenty of nice, well priced rides in Ohio.

  22. For sellers: If you have ever been in sales, you know some people talk a good game, but simply can't deliver. There are also those who are perceived as being a little slow, dull, not quite with it, who actually can produce the cash. Bottom line, don't judge a book by its cover, be receptive to all prospective buyers, and the cash may find its way into your wallet. The other course of action (to insult, berate, belittle a prospective buyer), might pad your ego, but rarely pads your wallet. If you don't have the patience/experience/instinct to determine, who is serious and who isn't, maybe consigning your car is the answer. All different types of people have money, they just want someone to take it, in exchange for a car they want.

Holy shit...are we not supposed to buy a car unless we know we'll be getting our money back when/if we sell? Nobody told me that!...I've been buying cars (mainly from the west coast because they're not rusted -all-to-hell)...just to enjoy them... man have I been stupid.

I've had pretty good luck selling on c-list but have had 2 or 3 people respond just to talk about the seven they have just like yours that are all better and they got them for a fraction of what you are asking. They always start out acting interested and asking a lot of questions but somehow swing the conversation around to their stuff. It's part of the game.
I never put OBO because it automatically means your asking price is something you will come off of. I also figure any price has to have room to come down 10%-20% because everyone wants to beat you up on price no matter how cheap you have it. I also hate to deal with sellers who won't put a price on something. "Make me an offer?" Well, ok, but it's going to be a real low one if you want me to put the price on it.

Alot of these people see a car "like theirs" on Barrett-Jackson. The distinction between a '67 Hemi GTX and a "67 318 Belvedere escapes them. To me, an ad is the beginning of a conversation. If someone is going to start off by telling me how shit-hot they think they are because they have some old car parts for sale, the conversation isnt going to go any farther.

    Wow! This thread got ugly.

  27. Let's go farther than that - the difference between a '67 HEMI GTX convertible and a 225 3-speed Belvedere I four-door!

Stupid threads like this are a waste of time. And on the subject of time, if you are serious then you bloody well call and make an offer on what ever it. If you are not interested and want to chat about the car you used to own and wished you can afford the sellers item don't waste his/her time. Pretty simple. Close thread

That's a pretty universal statement folks! Buying and selling ANYTHING can be both a pain in the ass and a pretty freekin cool experience. BTW nothing sucks worse than commodities and real estate!

  30. I believe you make this a bit personal!
I open this thread thinking there maybe some useful information to sellers perhaps on a good place to sell a vehicle something ok that nature.
of course I read your little rant and rave cry baby post and realize I was fooled.
No I don't like you, nor do I dislike you, but you're growing on me kinda like a wart.
I wasn't aware we are in a fight, and I don't need anyone the fight my battles as it's been said before people who act like dicks usually are.

I'm gonna nominate you as classified editor Assistant. that way you can have everyone wright their add just the way you prefer, just so your happy. I may even contact ryan and have him a good notes or possibly a sticky that's everyones job to make sure that you are absolutely #### happy.
