Michael Elbridge from the UK. he said he has a bed for me. but don't want to send any money unless I can get some conformation its a real person. never can be to sure theses days.
I don't know him at all. But what sort of bed is it there are a lot less american cars there. or is it for something from Europe. ??
hahahaha! That dude responds to every want ad... he must have a shit load of parts! tell him you'll send him a check for 1500. keep the 500 for the bed and send thw 1000 back with your shipping company...
Theres some nice ones here in the states ,5 sumpthin his money is way more than our money ......Shop around there out there ..........
There's a bunch of guys trolling the wanted ads from England(Nigeria) e-mailing you that they have the Exact part you are looking for. Happened to me several times.. Do what Killer and carcrazyJohn said...
Thanks Killer thats what I needed to know. I'll tell him to send the bed COD LOL. he won't be geting my money.
if you aren't approaching the internet with a healthy dose of skepticism, you're going to get burned sooner or later. Seems to be that a bed from Brookville would be substantially cheaper than that, but without a price list handy, I don't know. These scammers are relentless, and some are much more clever than others. I have received (not from the guy you're talking about) inquiries and responses for parts and cars from some people that can't support the conversation (in other words, you ask them something specific about the part they are purporting to have (how are the tailgate chains attached? does it have the molded windshield stanchion supports? is it a late or early axle? Something that could be answered if the guy actually had the part, or knowledge of it. These guys always have a story - "I'm serving in Kuwait, my brother/uncle/cousin/nephew/sister has the fender/bed/body/tripower setup at their house" blah blah blah. They can't ever provide a picture (to YOUR specification - so they can't pirate one off of someone else's posting or site). Stay in the conterminous US and you'll be a lot safer. dj
Yep, on two occasions now I have posted in the wanted section. Both times I get the email from a chap from England that has parts I am looking for. I just go straight for the delet button and move on.... Funny part is that the reply never mentions the exact part, its very generic.
Why is he still here and not banned? Only members have access to the classified section, correct? Throw him out on his scammin' ass!
That guy is a scammer. I recently had a wanted add up for an A chassis. He emailed me twice asking for my phone number. His address said UK why would I pay the shipping for that? When I questioned him he said he just wanted to talk. What the hell? I'm looking for parts not a friend. I think he just replies to adds from people in the US so when he scams you, you don't show up on his door step.
Sad thing is these bastard scammers go after high dollar tractors as well, especially John Deere. Makes me sick thinking how many honest hard working farmers have been cheated. Whenever I see an obvious tractor scam ad I contact Kijiji and get a thank you note a day or so later. You are right though, they are relentless pricks. One little trick I use is to copy suspect ad and paste into Google and see how many hits on other sites worldwide you get. It is amazing same tractor could be for sale in so many different countries.
Check these out, http://www.pros-pick.com/ Thes are very well built quality parts and they are great guys as well.
Friend of mine advertised here (want ads) for a rare part. Guy in the UK said he had one and sent a picture. It was the wrong part and the picture was copied from a web page. The asking price was way to low. Friend confronted him and never got a reply. Out and out scam. Hot rods are big in the UK. Anything worth having will sell locally for a good price.
You do not have to be a member to view the Classifieds. You do have to be a member to view profiles, post on the board. Don't want to get email from scammers? Don't want your phone number on every scammers call list? Don't post ads like this.... It doesn't take a whole lot of detective work to figure out how these guys get your information. I could write a program in seconds that would pluck every phone number and email address from any web-site I point it at. Better yet, I could just do an advanced Google search of any website out there for "*.com" and I'd have a whole list of people to sucker punch. I got 9 pages of results just doing that on our Wanted ads alone. Getting email from spammers who are registered? I received this email recently & just ignored it. Hello mate, Gary here! Please contact me via e-mail or phone if you still require the item requested in your advert. What's your mobile? Many thanks, Gary Scholes 22 York Street London, N6A 5P9 United Kingdom +447024331139
