Here we go... another project and another old Chevy truck. This will be my first fat fender project. In the past I have built 55-57 Chevy trucks and cars. For the last couple of years I have been working on the mid sixties C10 trucks. C10s are great projects, but enough for them now.
Since I was 14 years old I have wanted a 30's era vehicle. I dreamed of driving a running board car to school. I used to pass a house with a large yard at times that contained about 6 old mid thirties bodies of what I don't know. I thought that if I could get one of them, I would build a hot rod. That never happened.
Forty years later I came across a 38 Chevy Pick-up while looking for parts for my 64 C10 Chevy Truck. After a few weeks and more visits to the truck I bought it. No, I didn't ask my wife. The evening I bought it I was supposed to be buying a cherry picker. The owner of the 38 was also the owner of the hoist. I was late returning home. My wife asked what took so long. I told her in my best "I'm out of my mind" way that I bought an old truck. If rolling eyes could be harnessed for power, my wife's could power the city for a week.
She's a veteran to my project lusts. She started asking me questions over the next couple of weeks. What's your plan? How much will it cost? what are you going to do with the other five projects? When will you get professional help for this problem?
That brings us to this thread. I hope to document this project and share my ideas and progress while taking input, encouragement, and Co-dependence. from you all.

I hope you are going to keep it looking like a 38 p/u,if you happen to make it fenderless I would be interested in the fenders and running boards to replace the fiberglass on my 37 but please do keep it looking like it should.

Nunattax, Great looking 38 truck you have there. My basic plan for my 38 will be to have a nice slammed pickup. The fenders and running boards are staying on. I plan to also have bumpers. No chopping. I do plan to drop it. Front should go down about 4 inches. The rear will go down about 6 inches. The big question is what option will I use to achieve this. I have considered many of the present day popular mods and chassis. I'll be posting my choices and pictures soon and a survey for you all to respond to.
