I've been looking around for some sort of small lamp to use for turn signal indicators on the dash of the Falcon I'm working on.

Today my wife came back from Radio Shack with these:

The package says they are 12 volts DC, 60 mA and fit 7/32" mounting hole.

The best part is they were only $3.00 for the pair!

The Radio Shack part number is 272-0334 if you're interested.

Yeah I've searched through those drawers there. I wouldn't dare ask a sales person anything.

    Man that's a great pic!

They also have a 12v LED one with no bezel, are a 1/4" dia. and about 1/16" thick face, they come in green and red. I have used them several times, use the green for turn signals and red one for bright-lite indicator. You do not realy notice them on a gauge panel because of no bezel. They are under $3.00 ea. Have had some in my o/t '70 chevy shortwide for 6 yrs. without a problem.

That's why they only cost $3/pr. If they had to hire somebody who actually knew something, sadly they'd be more like $10/pr. and people would complain how much they cost when you can get them off the internet from a robot site for less.

Don't those small *** wires make it hard to connect to anything? I had some Watson's turn signal indicators and they just broke from vibration on the 22 ga. wires.

We have an independent electronics place here that carries those 1/2" cl***ic style lamps with the gem-cut faceted domes in various colors. Same as the ones on my Dad's old Lionel train set stuff. Have those weird, tube shaped bulbs inside.
I bought some for my '29

Yeah, they have all kinds of that stuff, bulbs, diodes, resistors, etc... Most of it is cheap but I sometimes wonder how well it will hold up in a car enviroment. I think it is more for ****s who are doing science experiments and playing with robots.

  20. Radio Shack and Hot Rods go way back...where else do you get small electronic parts on short notice. I hooked up an mp3 jack to a stock radio, all parts came from Radio Shack. Before you give a bunch of cash for fancy LED turn signal indicators, check Radio Shack, they've got leds in many sizes, shapes colors.

    I like Radio Shack.

Coat your br*** with parafin wax and use a pen to remove the area you want to etch. Lots cheaper than a resist pen.

  30. I always thought it was just me. I like radio shack but the employees never seemed to be a big help. I agree, you just have look through the drawers yourself. If it is in blister packs on the wall they seem to have a little more knowledge about their products.
