Ok I need some help with this. I have a '54 chevy and I'm trying to remove my steering wheel to redo it. I feel like an idiot but, can anyone explain to me how to take this off? Any help would greatly be appeciated. Thanks

Do you have the horn ring off yet? If so then there should be a nut to remove and you will probably need a steering wheel puller. Got any picture you can show us?

I got a 54 and the steering wheel hub is the same as later GM up to maybe the 70's.

The horn button part might be a snap on over the ring that is held on with the 3 screws after you get the horn button part off. The arms maybe have a screw in each arm.?

  7. Pop of the horn button and there are three screws that hold the horn ring on. Take it off and then all you have left is the big nut holding the wheel on the steering shaft. Best way to take it off is using a puller but if you don't have one there is a tried and true old method. Back the nut off until it is flush with the end of the shaft, but your knees against the back of the wheel and smack the nut square and hard with a hammer...should pop right off. Just make sure not to leave any exposed threads on the shaft to bung up.
