I showed this roadster in a group of hot rods a few weeks ago here on the Sunday Model thread. Someone asked to see more shots. Here they are. It is basically a very modified Solido 1/18th deicast '34 roadster. Geoff aka whodaky
Just finished this 1/25th scale model of my 50 Olds.... it's not quiet a perfect match but as close as I could get it..........
This is my first time posting my work here. This is the AMT 37 Chevy Coupe that I've done as a barn find that soneone got running again and then just left it as is. I'm pretty happy with it.
here's a 57 Chebbie in a garage scene I did about 10 yrs ago.. the input shaft on the trans is made of an old watch stem
Great stuff fellas. This olds looks great. Where did the Olds body and trim come from? Is it a resin kit? I'd like to build a '49 or '50 club sedan fastback some time. I could see bashing this kit with an AMT Chevy Fleetline..
This is a 1/12th scale replica of a 1966 USAC sprint car, being built by Randy Derr, a nationally known master modeler from Ohio. EVERYTHING on this model is scratchbuilt using br***, aluminum, plastic, etc.
We are off to a good start this week, keep em coming...Whodaky, that roadster is slick. Scott in Wheaton, love the garage scene...good use of the watch stem as an input shaft. It is great when you can use everyday items to make models come to life.
This is my first post here. Just a couple shots of my Monogram 39 Chevy. I decided to salvage it to rebuild as an abandoned hulk after an accident involving a bookcase falling over.
Amazing work! I too build models and was wondering, Is there a section on the HAMB specifically for models? Or what site do you guys post your construction/progress and finished work?
Here's one I finished just after Christmas, It's a Revell `32 Sedan, I chopped and channeled, used one of the Revell parts pack Caddy's and `37 Ford pickup rear axle.
The model show is definitely off to a great start! Whodaky, you're fabrication skills are amazing....nice design and finish. Lyle, that sprint car is insane.....or is the builder insane....?
...all nice stuff this week, that sprint car is too much, nice weathering on that 37 Chevy, and a very nice 1/43 Henry J...is that a hot wheel car?...are most of those parts scratch built? ...here's a model AA truck I built using the Monogram 30 coupe as a base...
Ok, even though this model isn't really traditional subject matter, I hope you'll like its' story: When the "retro" design VW beetle came out in 2000(?) I told a friend I thought the designers made a mistake by basing it on the later model body style(Super Beetle) rather than the cooler early ones and that it would probably look better going backwards! Well, with a lot of Ed Roth inspiration, I present the Beatnik Beetle:
I might as well get in on this too. It's not a hot rod-I'll show those later. This started out as the Revell 64 Chevy pickup.I used a resin grille and wheels, the rest was scratch built. This is a model of an actual truck I found in my hood. it sat there for several years and they used it for trash hauling. I modified the stock dash to look like the GMC. The front wheels steer. The rear end has leaf spring. I used 2 rolls of film on this truck. People probably thought I was nuts, crawling under this thing to take pics of the suspension
Do you know of any sites do***enting the build? I'd really like to see more of this. This is the gentleman who built the 1/12th sunoco 69 camaro several years ago, isn't it?
Jigger... The 50 Olds was a diecast nascar car, I stripped it and built it my way using model kit parts. I've seen a resin town sedan kit on ebay but I don't know who makes it. Rusti... The Henry J g***er is 1/43, not Hot Wheels. It was a damaged Brooklin and I redid it my way. Here is a 1/64 Hot Wheels I've started to do as a g***er..............
