I hope the guy that hit you "totaled" his car. Not that that helps you out much. you have gone thru one of our worst nightmare.

  7. *******S!!! I hope the insurance company doesn't give you the run around when you tell them what it's gonna take to fix that right

That's a bummer! I'm sure you'll be able to get the parts you need, Good Luck with that.
By the way 2 years ago my friend with a '50 Ford got tagged by a Jeep heading to the Blue Suede Cruise here in Ohio it buckled both quarters.

Yeah.. it was a chain... An ambulance was doing about 40... didnt stop.. ran into a lady in a Honda... and pushed her into a toyota and that got pushed up into me. We were all stopped at a light. the guy in the ambulance was changing his radio station. You can actually see the toyota rode up my bumper and landed in my trunk. I had to pull forward a bit to get his bumper outta my trunk. Yeah it ****s. **** happens. Guess the Buick will be down awhile before the insurance guys decide whos fault it was.

    Ouch!! I feel your pain.

I went for a leisurely drive in our 427 ragtop vette a few summers ago and got clubbed from behind by a psycho lady. She actually stopped in time and then blasted off again for an unknown reason. Hit me hard enough in the rear to blow the radiator. Cost her more than a few thousand to fix that one.

Glad no one was apparently hurt and it looks like it can be repaired. Still sorry to see this

I drove fire truck and ambulance for several years.....red lights and siren only give you the priviledge to run red lights, go over the speed limit, etc. in a PRUDENT AND SAFE WAY........the driver is responsible for the safety of its occupants, as well as the public...
    No excuse for that.
Go after the city, and make it public.
Sorry to hear about your '55
    Nice car.

Best you can do is show recepts of prior work - especially paint. Keep giving them hell about it. Insurance companies don't like to let go of their money.

As for trunk and bumper, contact Steve Rostam, he is active with the local Buick Club chapters in LA area, restored at least three '55s and may have some pieces for you.

Also try "Alice" at Muscle Car City. She has been playing with a couple of Buicks lately as well. 714-417-1925.

Good luck, and sorry to hear of such troubles,

was there a police report that might do***ent who's at fault? I'd make a log of your dealings with the various parties, and file a claim directly with the Ambulance's insurance company. Sometimes a call to the state insurance commissioner is helpful at avoiding need for a lawyer.

Here in M***achusetts the minimum compulsory property damage is $5000. I could score higher than than that just tapping a Porsche or Cavalcade's bumper, never mind crashing into a store front.

  27. There is a Buick Clup Swap meet in Sacramento in 2 weeks. Sad to see the pain...

  29. That's no good. Honestly one of my favourite cars, I was going through a stack of my old magazines looking for some tech articles and found the rod n custom you were featured in and got wondering about this car. Glad to see you still own it, and hope it will back on the road.
