Its been sitten for the 15 years i have been dating/married to his daughter and probably been there for 20 years prior. only recently have i had thoughts of doing something with it possibly dragging it out but its kinda part of the land scape and my mother inlaw would want $ if she knew i was gonna part it but its just interesting and thought i would post pics .I always make a point to walk out to see it whenever i visit, kinda like visiting a historical grave site plus its more interesting than visiting with my mother in law........is this something overly desireable (in a much better state) I might consider pulling stuff if someone really needed something but it would be like disturbing a burial site..........Indy, throw me the idol I throw you the whip.

Damn! what a waste of a good convertable. Id rip it out and try to get her on the road. Find a doner frame like from a S-10 maybe or something. Ive seen guys on here start with worse.

Anything convertible-specific on this car is valuable. If the top frame is in it yet then there is enough left of the car to convert a sedan or hardtop into a convertible and that would be a worthwhile project.

If the top frame is missing, I would at least salvage all of the convertible stuff that's left, including any trim or latches attached to the windshield frame, bent or not. Probably would grab the side trim and the grille bar too, plus whatever other little trinkets look good for resale. If the top frame is in it yet I'd jump at the chance to buy this car. My '55 Dodge isn't a whole lot better and I'm planning a build around it. (pic below)

Either way it's a damn shame to leave it sit there when someone could use the parts on a car that will see the road again. Lawn ornaments and scenery be damned.

It might look rough but that car ain"t that bad but sure sounds like you and MIL might bump heads on it.Good luck with it though.

  16. If the convertible stuff is there, it's worth easily $2000 whole as a donor conversion car. The more that's missing or ruined the less it's worth. The top parts and frame pieces should work for any 54-56 Olds.

While some guys will see junk or only something to sell a few pieces off from, a true carbuilder can combine that carc*** with a solid 2-door sedan or hardtop and build a car out of it. Basically both get taken apart to the frame, the body gets taken apart to the pans, and the convertible parts are swapped to the 2-door, fabricating where needed to account for rotted panels.

If there's enough left to get wheels on it and make it roll, do that, clean it up, and chuck it on eBay. It's certainly worth paying s**** money for.

A friend restored one...not quite that bad. He had to replace the entire floor and lower parts of the quarters, trunk, and firewall.

Careful!!! You might start a new fad with the fake patina and RR gang. I can see it now; a tech article on "how to grow vintage looking moss on your RR".

What he said, and in case You are contemplating on selling it to someone looking to use it as a donor for the type of conversion described above, You´d really be best off just making it a roller and selling it as a complete unit. They´re going to want it with as much of the convertible -structure intact as possible, and eventually do their own cutting. There are tons of unseen differences between a hardtop and a true open car, and even if a certain piece or section on the convertible body or -frame looks too far gone to use as an actual donor piece, it may still prove to be an invaluable piece of reference or provide a pattern for fabrication purposes for the right builder.

Resemblance, yes, but they don't share many parts.
