No, I don't think so. It looks like you forgot to chop the front posts enough. You have the wedge going the wrong way. I like your enthusiasm, but cut the fronts down some more and it'll be spot on.

As an owner of a '28 AV8 I have to agree. Maybe some reverse rake (favored toward the back), but as it sits it looks a little nose high.

Not sure I'd make a blanket statement of "That's how it was done back in the day" for there are plenty of period photos of tops not chopped that way.

Look at it this way, great start and your more than 1/2 there.

Ultimately, if you like it thats all that matters. You did ask for other's opinions.

Here's hoping you saved some of the chunks from the rear you cut out! Now would be a good time to relace some of them...

    Love the color!

Since you brought muscle cars into it..... reminds me of my 67 camaro in 1982 all jacked up.. except the top looked good on mine.

I think it could use another raise in the back in my opinion, but take it for what it is worth my opinion! I just feel like the stance shows forward slant but the roof shows different... I think even if it came up even with top of the window it would fix the perspective...

granted its yours!!!!!!! disregard what I say...

  8. No sir I do not like it. Doesn't flow with the rest of the car.

Gotta bring that front down some more...no reason to go to drastic but at least level. Neat ride. Would look killer without any top as well.

He's hiding his head in shame. Somewhat like the little son of Sylvester the cat on Bugs Bunny who would pull the paper bag over his head because he was afraid to be seen and identified. :D

Better to have the people on the computer who live way far away give you a bit friendly constructive opinion than to take it out for a cruise and have a bunch of guys bag on you. It really just looks like it's missing a bit of height in the one bow directly behind the door if you compare it to a couple of other examples.

  17. Oh man, this thread is hillarious...

Cshabang is the man, let me tell you.

This "kid" worked for the Rolling Bones shop before they were really even popular. He must have been tired of changing his clothes from all the saliva most spew over those guys. The kid, can build anything! I have seen it. He personally gets taste... and tradition.

That top is ****ed up! Hahahaaaa.

Trust me, I have a chopped soft top. It was chopped before I got it, I chopped it again, and then I chopped it again just trying to get it right. Then I made all the canvas work.... holy **** is that one pain in the ***. Guess what, I still ain't happy. Hahahaa.

So it just ain't that easy...

Keep your shirt on, and keep playing till its right! Or don't ask us A holes.

This is coming from a newbie as my first car was in 1958 and my first hot rod was in 1960. However I did my "apprenticeship" in hot rods by reading every issue of Hot Rod starting with issue no. 1 and hanging with the neighborhood hard core hot rodder who had an av8 and a '34 3w coupe . After owning over 200 cars I'll admit I'm no expert but I still can recognize when one is wrong and yours is wrong if your going to use what was the "standard" from back in the day. If your happy, rock on, just get used to comments like those that have posted so far.

Who he stole from the boys from the '80's CA punk group Suicidal Tendencies.

In turn, they stole the look from the Chicano gang bagers. Kind of like a mini-history lesson in itself. Sorry, I don't have pictures to prove it.
