I had to run home in between classes today to get supplies for my Water-media class and have to bring a tackle or tool box with my art supplies (pencils, paint, brushes, etc) in it later.. I got a wild hair and remembered there was an old toolbox in the shed in my backyard. I also thought it'd be pretty cool to use my dad's tag since 2009 is the year he passed. Another sentimental reason is he always pushed for me to finish college and always told me that he regretted not finishing his college education. So I thought my art tool box for college would be a fitting place for my dad's tag until I finish his '48 Chevy AD, then I'll drill the rivets and put the tag on the AD where it belongs. Here's some pictures. Just thought this was interesting and maybe a couple of you guys would enjoy this. Thanks for looking, guys. I'm about to go into class.
Nice tribute! And I do agree with your pop's stay in school & finish it........that little piece of paper will mean a TON to people in your future.......I sound like I'm getting old or something....or maybe it is because I have a 18 month old boy now and I look into the future and I think to myself that I have "been there and done that". Chris
I've been in school for quite a while now and even then, I'm contemplating getting my Master's then I can take a minor with that. I'm also thinking of maybe one more Bachelor's with a minor. I'm not going to say I "realize" this because I'm still unmarried and have no kids (and none on the way), so I can't say I understand how important this is yet. But I do want to get as much education in as possible before life hits the "fast forward" button. But more importantly: thank you guys for being understanding. Support from my HAMB peers do mean something to me. Here's another one in class before it starts in about 10 minutes since the garage was pretty dark..
That's awesome! I have done the same except with my own on my pinstriping box since none of my cars are done my striping box leaves the garage more than my cars! This was an old gardening box of my grandparents.
I like the gardening box! No better looking boxes than the ones made out of wood, especially the ones that are aged good. I'm hoping this will eventually become my 'striping box. I just haven't practiced with some one shot yet, but I've sketched up some designs and such. I think my main problem is I'm too focused on other stuff to try my hand at 'striping again. John Stromberg (known for painting motorcycles, painted a winner on Biker Build-Off) came to my body shop class and taught us airbrushing and striping back in 2006. That was fun.
Your Dad was right, get an education! The toolbox is very nice as well. I think your Dad would be proud....
Yep get that degree. It's one thing nobody will ever be able to take away from you. Since you mentioned it, I'll give you some additional advice that my father gave me that I failed miserably at: Don't be too quick to jump into family life when you're done with school. I think what you'll notice is that most guys who are married with 3 kids working the 40+ hours a week and have a mortgage on the typical suburban home, 2 car payments on OT cars, and all the other bills that come with that lifestyle (all of the above being beyond their means)....don't have much time or money for working on old cars. Your old man would be real proud of you for doing well in school regardless though.
I know how ya feel, I put pinstriping down for awhile to focus on tattooing for a few years and picked it back up a couple years ago. Just like everything else it's just practice practice practice!
Your dads Alliance Tag on your toolbox is a very cool tribute. Finishing college as your dad wished will be even cooler!
