I have been working on this for a little while. I am upgrading the ol 33 pickup to juice brakes, and you may as well throw a dropped axle at the thing while your at it. But the story starts earlier. I was at a local guys place who had some 34 car parts I was buying. He asked if I needed some early Ford hubcaps and produced these NOS 1938 wide 5 caps...but they were different. They were fully chrome, like JC Whitney or something. So 40.00 later they were mine. I knew exactly what they were going on when I saw them. So that was the begining, and heres the end.

I have spent the last few weeks collecting parts and cleaning/painting stuff. My Brother dropped the axle for me. Friday night was the big night, My buddy Mike came over and we jerked the old brakes/axles out and stuffed the new unit uner it. It wasn't until today I was able to roll it outside...and it sits exactly how I was hoping.

    So here it is before:

And heres the last few weeks:

And here it was this morning. I still gotta run brake lines, mount the MC, etc. I also gotta clean some paint off the caps and polish them. The run the (new) wheels off this thing.

As I said, it's perfect dude. I love everything about it and would be super happy if I owned it....hell I'm super happy you own it! I made a mistake thinking that getting rid of your coupe was bad idea because now I know that no matter what you have it's going to be cooler then the last. Looks killer dude and I can't wait to drive it....I mean ride in it!

Keep the trim rings off....it's a truck after all!

Cool man! I love the big V-8 on '38 Ford caps...

You going to show us how you end up mounting the master cylinder? ...hope so.

I would have never picked that color but looks great. Stance is better too.

You know you are going to have to tell us the tire sizes :)

My friend Lenny had those wheels already painted for sale. I figured I'd try em and if I didn't like the color paint em again. I like em a lot though. Tire sizes are 5.50x16 front and 7.00x16 rears.

Looks great Chris. Did you have to do any heat and bend on the spindle arms for the tie rod to clear wishbone? I am putting a 4" drop with '32-'34 perch and spindle setup on my '29 next week. Thanks

Yes, anytime you get a drop on an axle you will have to alter or replace the arms on the spindles.

Looking at the pics again, I think I might have to be two things....

A: Jealous because this truck is so damn cool and I can jut imagine all the fun you're going to have with it driving the piss out of it.

B: A little proud that my friend Chris is applying pain to his cars. Such a clean install. You are definitely upping your game getting ready to since your teeth into that Model 40.

It's gotta be nice having the cool factor of the coupe back but with a few extra ponies under the bonnet huh?

Chris, I've said it before, but you are gonna be in years to come one of those cool old dudes that everybody goes to get the knowledge from!Hot Rodding as it should be and still is in your capable hands.
