searched and found no new info on swap meets in the Sacramento (and Valley area) for 2011... WX, Ford Museum, Stockton, etc.

Anyone have dates and details? I need parts!!!!!!!

Post em up if you know what's happening.

    Cheers,

I was kicking around the idea of bringing a swap meet to the Solano County Fairgrounds. Hwy 80 & Hwy 37. Still just a dream but with enough car nuts wanting to make it happen we could make it happen. More of a Pomona style car show/swap meet. Any interest?

There was a monthly one at Alameda Point but it never took off. I always found stuff at it. Otherwise they are only a few other than Goodguys.

Yeah I think the Alameda swap didn't take off due to lack of advertisment. Damn shame though. There are a ton of Rodders and Racers here in the Nor Cal area and a ton of Vintage Tin still sitting around.

I kinda thought the Alameda swap died from being way overstaffed...every time I went they had a dozen people working out front in the parking lot and at the gate...plus the inside guys...it was pretty good though!

  8. Is the one at Alameda the same one as Candlestick near Baypoint ,the first Sunday of each month?

I think there are actually meets in both places- for the CAM (old Towe Ford Museum) you get off at the first off ramp past the river, I think it's 5th St, and circle under the freeway like you're going to Old Sac- the others you get off at 15th and the meets are in the parking lots beneath the freeway. There's usually a couple a year at Consumnes College that are pretty good.
Early Ford V8 club does a good one at the Petaluma fairgrounds, I think it's in March or May, and there's always a few at the Veteran's Building across from the Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, Corvette club and others. Haven't seen it for a while, but the Olds club had annual swaps at the Vallejo Fairgrounds, and Topping used to do bike swaps, but moved it to Sacramento- just went weekend before last, at the 6-plex drive-in at Bradshaw

any dates for the Stockton Swap at the fairgrounds??

what about the Hayward "Cal State" swap by the Bay Area Horseless Carraige Club? I hear they got screwed on the rates to rent to parking lot and could no longer do it. that was a great swap. sure hate to lose it.

what ever happened to the Oldsmobile Club swap in Vallejo at the Solano County Fairgrounds??

Goodguys ought to put the real swap meet guys on one side and the guys who sell repop parts you can get 24/7 online on the other... then I won't have to wade through the new junk to find the good stuff.

CRUISIN NEWS.... it appears that I am lost without my Cruisin News. guess I'll have to re-up my prescription

So are they still doing the two swaps under the freeway. The first one of the year under the freeway is usually the best. Finding out when it is is always the hardest. Or has the first one been moved to CAM.

I also miss the Vallejo Olds club swap, and the Hayward college swap. It seemed like there wasn't hardly anything last year.

  14. NOTE... WX IS NO MORE!!!!!!
... both Buick & Cam Swap Meet will be in the parking lot next to the Museum.. 2200 Front Street kinda under the freeway that is about 600 ft in the air.. and the noise is nuts .. but still a Good Swap Meet .. Free admission ..but limited parking..DO NOT BLOCK THE "TANK FARM" next to swap meet .. tow city  ...

Carlos should have his Stockton Swap meet dates in the Cruisin' News next month ...

Hayward Swap meet .. we ran that ugly story last year about what happened .. College sub leased the lot to a independent company.. thus the rates went up and killed that meet .. sad

Vallejo Fairgrounds is too costly Olds club aged out and quit ..
Toppings also gave up on the Vallejo and I helped them move it to the drive inn which was a "Home Run" this month!! they will be back in May ..

Goodguys have reversed lettered the fairgrounds swap meet area .. kinda sorta helped it a bit .. but trust me it's a hard thing to control.. new versus rust .. then some dude will slide in with poodle skirts and a lawn mower for sale.. vendors are a challenge so rules have been necessary and fairgrounds cost are over the top (when we held the Reno Swap meet in Reno at the RLEC .. take a guess how much to clean the place after the vendors left their cast offs behind.. $8,000 bucks .. ouch! dumpsters are $$$

    ------
last August at our Reno Swap meet at Arco a guy come up and suggested that we organize the rows by makes .. Ford - Chevy Mopar ....:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

If any of you want me to mail you a sample copy of the Cruisin News pm you mailing adresss.. I hate to see you guys miss all the great swap meets.. and shows ..

or do a "google search" and it's all right here on the web.. even an old dog like me can use this dumb box

Looks like you didn't read the previous posts- the Topping motorcycle meets moved from the Vallejo Fairgrounds to the drive-in in Sacramento, at Hwy 50 & Bradshaw
The Vallejo drive-in, which was right next to the old Vallejo Speedway and a couple miles from the Fairgrounds, has been grown up in houses for many years- in fact I graded the subdivision next door in the early 80's, moved the fill dirt from the Speedway area past the drive-in

actually you are right...I didn't read everything Also didn't know what Toppings meant ....but the vallejo drive in I know is right off the freeway by the cemetary...they tore the sign down a few years ago but the lot is still there (corner of rollingwood and old benicia rd I think)

I remember that one, went there a few times "back when"- we used to call it the "Benicia" drive in, as we were closer to the "Vallejo" one, actually on the same road as the Fairgrounds, just south of American Canyon Rd, right by the old Speedway. The old Napa drive-in is also overgrown, with condos. Even the old "Westlane XXX" off of Hwy 80 up around Dixon is gone, but just overgrown in veggies, no housing units

Anybody ever go down Doolittle Dr off of Hegenburger like you're headed into Alameda the back way? There is a huge parking lot for lease. It may have been a rent a car agency at one time or an overflow parking lot for Oakland Airport. It's pretty much flat, fenced in all around, plenty of on street parking. Hmmm. Might have to look further into that.

  20. keeping an eye on this thread ill be in Nor Ca. in feb to look at a car need some swaps to hit to help fill the box!
