I finally got my closed cab pick up! Its a 33 cab that i bought for 50 bucks back in November! Im building the ch***is starting with the front few feet of a Model A frame I had laying around and im scratch building the rest of the frame. Im trying to use as many "old" parts as i can but im not too worried about peirod correctness. I have a stroked, ported, and relieved 47 Flathead linked to a 47 truck open drive three speed and a 47 ford p***enger rearend and spring. Oh and the front axle is also out of the 47 ford car. I plan on finishing this truck nice! I love the Williams Bros. roadster.. so I plan on painting the truck ***ian red, cream 16 inch ford wheels, caps, blackwalls so on. The pics I have are mock up pics... wrong rear tires... gonna have 7.50 16s rear 4.5/4.75 16 fronts. IVe already chopped it 5 inches and channeled it 6 inches. Got a long way to go but Ill get there!
Just spent 1.5 hours to just remove the top skin... 15 machine screws with square nuts had to cut all off plus all the tack weld the truck aquired over the years... but its off.
Please elaborate on exactly what you are doing in dis***embling the top. Is that to facilitate a top chop or what? Any pics?
Thanks guys!!! Southfork- I removed the to skin to: A: fix my RUSTY a pillars B: put the header/windshield mount back in after i chopped it C: get to some dents in the top skin that the bolts were blocking. I got one of my a pillars roughed in tonight... kinda frankenstein lookin but it was so rusty and blowing away this was the only way i could do it. Need to Fix the other pillar and dash rail and i can put the top back on. Pics arent uploading... ill try again soon.
Finally!!! Took forever for them to load! Drivers side a pillar is roughed in so take it easy on me! HA! Next is dash rail then p***enger pillar. The A sedan is just waiting for action back in the corner!
DISCOURAGED!!!!! Started to clean my cowl area up with a wire wheel... swiss cheese... way worse than i thought... and just as i saw this i looked over to my A sedan just settimg there sad. Its almost rust free too. My dad gave it to me a while back and i had it running with my flathead and a 5 speed but the clutch pedal set up was horrible so I tore it apart... I had it channeled and stuff. I wanna put it on '32 rails. Im so tempted to put the truck aside and focus on my sedan... heres some pics. Tell me what you think?
ive got a 34 ford with a horrible vent like that also , i watched ebay for about 3 months and scored a brookville cowl patch for 45$ it replaces the opening and about 3 1/2 inches of metal around it , then you put your door and hinge onto it , figured that was the cheapest fix , or find a truck thats been cut up and score a cowl vent patch out of it , i saw a few of them on the bay also , good luck ,
Don't get Discouraged man! Just keep pluggin away at it, hit it with a mig and grinder down. The first photos look good, maybe lower the grille a little but, it really looks good. Stick with it. BTW, good choice on the flathead! Love it.
Is the cowl vent on the 33 pickup and the 32 car the same or do i need one for the 32 rpu? And the grille is just mock up it was off an old channeled truck before! i havent touched it. It will get lowered.
im not sure but i think the car ones are shaped like a V 32 33 34 p/u all look the same to me of course if you find a nice car one and dont mind it being different you could use it lol
Yeah thats true! HA! My dad just called me and told me he would by me a set of 32 rails and would give me a running BBF FE, top loader 4 speed and a 9 inch rear if I would build the A sedan.... JACKPOT!! HAHAHA!
